Finally, a rainy day with nothing on the calendar. Well, there was a Mission Pilot checkride to give at noon, but that's scrubbed by said rainy weather. It required good VFR.

So, here we go.

It's been a month since Alan Baker and I exchanged anything here. Over that month the only CSMA posts I see are crosspost trolls. Why so quiet?

Alan is taking the year off from racing. So no boasts on that subject.

Ed, HH and other Mac advocates seem to have disappeared entirely. Basically CSMA as it existed a few years ago has died.

I suppose we could re-ignite the COVID debate with Alan, but what's the use? Here in the U.S. we seem to have taken the approach that if you are not going to vaccinate then good luck with COVID, and in too many cases, adios. Get immunity from Pfizer et al or COVID, your choice. End of story.

The wife and I have hunkered down a bit again as Delta spreads, but still are going to outdoor events as often as possible. We now have several close relatives who have acquired immunity via COVID since vaccines came out. None were vaccinated and none have had severe cases or died. My in-laws had an elderly anti-vax friend die from COVID a few months ago. Now two more like him from that same church group are in the hospital today with serious cases. So far no known breakthrough cases in our circle of friends and relatives.

The indoor symphony season has started. Proof of vaccination is required for attendance. The opening gala is Friday, and we will be there!

I do have some on-topic news. Apple Car Play continues to be a minor bother. Not just for me, but across auto platforms. Android Auto seems to be in the same boat. Here are a few articles I ran across and saved for the day I had some time to post:

Android Auto and CarPlay Errors Are Too Much of a Headache, Study Finds

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/android-auto-and-carplay-errors-are-too-much-of-a-headache-study-finds-168444.html

https://chicago.suntimes.com/business/2021/8/31/22650617/apple-carplay-android-auto-jd-power-survey-vehicle-owners-frustration-smartphone-pairing-ram-trucks

https://www.axios.com/car-owners-complain-wireless-failed-smartphone-connection-097fb0d6-a406-4aff-964d-1d0d5c0fd79a.html

In my Honda I get frequent Car Play disconnects about 10 minutes into a trip. It's a wired connection that requires unplugging the cord to reset. Once reset it seems to be OK for hours. Audio is still getting randomly dropped in multiple iOS apps. After 3 or 4 trips to the dealer and replacing the entire infotainment system I can fix dropped audio by cycling the offending app pause/play instead of unplugging the USB cord. Progress at least, I suppose.

Otherwise, life goes on. No recent computer, mobile or tablet changes. My aging HP inkjet AIO printer died a while back, so I bought an AIO HP Envy Photo 7855. It works fine for my purposes.

The wife's 98 year old mom finally sold her 1998 Pontiac last week. That was hard for her, but she really needed to give up driving.

My high school aviation class is going very well. Not surprisingly it's a good review for me as well as interesting for the students. We are getting into the physics of lift and control this week.

Peace, out

Basically CSMA as it existed a few years ago has died.
I would say that’s because no one cares about Macs or Windows PCs anymore.
That is last century’s debate.

Hop over to comp.mobile.ipad or misc.phone.mobile.iphone, etc. LOTS of
serious “advocacy” going on there.

Pretty much, although there's more to that narrative from a political slant.
What's upsetting the Red's narratives has been that the south has been
clobbered so bad with Delta that their all-time per capita mortality rates
have been overtaking spots long held by the Northeast which got hit very
early. For example, Mississippi passed NJ in total per capita deaths last week.

The ramifications of this has been that those partisan attempts that tried
to claim that shutdowns/masking/etc were unnecessary are coming home
to roost in the morgues of the MAGA South.

Naturally, the latest spin that's underway is to try to downplay deaths per capita
as a valid metric, despite how these same parties used it for months against
blindsided Blue States such as NJ (who just relinquished the #1 spot to MS).

The fly in that ointment is that the alternatives are even worse for their narrative,
for when one re-baselines to deaths per capita after general vaccine availability
(call it 1 March 2021 to present), these Red MAGA States are revealing themselves
to be even worse off, and very clearly doing a very poor job managing the risks
for their citizens.

Case in point, CoVid-19 mortality by State on a Per-Capita basis, even using
the massaged data from States who are trying to underreport:

State - All-Time --> just those since 3/1/21:

MS 3,115 --> 844 (27% of all deaths have been since 1 March 2021)
NJ 3,061 --> 442
LA 2,886 --> 819
NY 2,850 --> 390
AL 2,694 --> 670
MA 2,676 --> 337
RI 2,654 --> 292
AR 2,467 --> 734

FL 2,366 --> 929
GA 2,315 --> 687
...
TX 2,155 --> 635
...
KY 1,847 --> 677

Taking the above and re-ranking by highest per cap mortality since vaccine availability,
the top "10" are:

FL 929 --> 40% of all deaths are since 1 March 2021
MS 844 --> 27%

I have a different take. The Red states have high percentage of population who have chosen by their own free will to ignore science and overwhelming statistics. Government cannot continue to coddle those who will not help themselves. I have no sympathy for the unvaccinated who get sick and die. If they get COVID after vaccination at least they tried to do something to protect themselves and their families.

Do you seriously think VP Harris saying she has no intentions of taking the Trump vaccine had no impact on people’s opinions? Do you seriously think that people’s stance on individual freedoms have no impact on their elected political leadership? You get the government of the majority.

same parties used it for months against blindsided Blue States
such as NJ (who just relinquished the #1 spot to MS).
The fly in that ointment is that the alternatives are even
worse for their narrative, for when one re-baselines to deaths
per capita after general vaccine availability (call it 1 March
2021 to present), these Red MAGA States are revealing
themselves to be even worse off, and very clearly doing a very
poor job managing the risks for their citizens.
Case in point, CoVid-19 mortality by State on a Per-Capita
basis, even using the massaged data from States who are trying
MS 3,115 --> 844 (27% of all deaths have been since 1 March

The wife and I have hunkered down a bit again as Delta

We're choosing to skip larger (crowded) outdoor events. We had

We now have several close relatives who have acquired
immunity via COVID since vaccines came out. None were
vaccinated and none have had severe cases or died. My in-laws
had an elderly anti-vax friend die from COVID a few months
ago. Now two more like him from that same church group are in
the hospital today with serious cases. So far no known
breakthrough cases in our circle of friends and relatives.
We have friends who've come down with CoVid for now a *third*

#3)., so it counts as a breakthrough .
Plus I've had a manager die last month of it. And a neighbor's

I suppose we could re-ignite the COVID debate with Alan, but
what's the use? Here in the U.S. we seem to have taken the
approach that if you are not going to vaccinate then good
luck with COVID, and in too many cases, adios. Get immunity
from Pfizer et al or COVID, your choice. End of story.
Pretty much, although there's more to that narrative from a
political slant. What's upsetting the Red's narratives has
been that the south has been clobbered so bad with Delta that
their all-time per capita mortality rates have been overtaking
spots long held by the Northeast which got hit very early. For
example, Mississippi passed NJ in total per capita deaths last
week.
The ramifications of this has been that those partisan
attempts that tried to claim that shutdowns/masking/etc were
unnecessary are coming home to roost in the morgues of the MAGA
South.

I have not confirmed that the number: 1-423-491-1448 will grant access
to Owl. For the record, spending time educating yourself isn't a waste.
Asserting you know all and trying to convince Snit that it is true, as
Owl tries to do? That is a waste ;)

"Somewhere between 1993 or 2008 I trusted Snit, the fully angry liar"
- Owl. And what did Owl have to say about this amazing support from new
posters? Most of the time he would try to push the reader to believe they're
"honest and honorable" posters who just happened to have an extremely bizarre
entrance into usenet. Makes no sense.

Snit shared a specific series of sites several times now, and invited
Alan B to show which ones aren't accurate and provide the testimony to
back his allegation. No way has Alan B done so. Alan B failed to show
an example of an effective corporation that has acquired its position
by not giving a shit about its customers and products.

Snit is a false advocate's hero. Utter idiocy by an uneducated, misleading,
Machiavellian, co-trolling lamer who couldn't tell the truth even if he
swore on his mother's grave.

Alan B wants to punish everyone here: If he can't be the focus here then
nobody will.

Alan B suffers from waking fantasies so, to him, everything, even responses
to his idiocy, are "slander". Who *doesn't* know this?

In which the Republican party and media outlets like Fox have been very
knowingly actively 'Aiding & Abetting' that attitude for their own gain;
classical "Party before Country".

There's always been a few people like this; in WW2, there were businessmen
in shore towns that didn't want to turn off their lights because it would hurt
their business tourism ... until the U-Boats using those lights sank merchant
ships right off their beaches (which got covered in oil & dead bodies).

Precisely. Likewise, for them to take other protective measures such as
social distancing and masking when merited: because each layer is
stochastic, not deterministic, one needs to work the odds to be in one's
favor. As such, when mutations cause the vaccine alone to drop from
90% to 70% (or whatever), it is appropriate to incorporate another ~50%
effectiveness mitigator in the plan to get the net number back up.

Back when Trump was claiming that he'd have a vaccine as an election surprise,
Kamala Harris said that Trump's word alone on any potential coronavirus vaccine
was inadequate:

"I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump and it would have to be a credible source
of information that talks about the efficacy and the reliability of whatever he's talking about,"
she continued in the clip from an exclusive interview airing Sunday on CNN's "State of the
Union" at 9 a.m. ET. "I will not take his word for it."

Given how we've since now seen how Trump denied the legitimacy of the election,
as well as attempted a coup on Jan 6th ... her posture that he's a liar was correct.

Given how we've since now seen how Trump denied the legitimacy of the election,
as well as attempted a coup on Jan 6th ... her posture that he's a liar was correct.
And no surprise that our liar worships him.
Because I criticize Biden's administration does not imply that I "worship" Trump. Quite the contrary I don't like the man at all.

Do you seriously think VP Harris saying she has no intentions of
taking the Trump vaccine had no impact on people’s opinions?
Quote please.. ...and a source.
Tom is parroting a misquote.
Back when Trump was claiming that he'd have a vaccine as an election surprise,
Kamala Harris said that Trump's word alone on any potential coronavirus vaccine
"I will say that I would not trust Donald Trump and it would have to be a credible source
of information that talks about the efficacy and the reliability of whatever he's talking about,"
she continued in the clip from an exclusive interview airing Sunday on CNN's "State of the
Union" at 9 a.m. ET. "I will not take his word for it."

Gosh, its been quite odd then at how you're mysteriously silent when outright fraud
is found.

Case in point:

<https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2021/09/21/trump-campaign-knew-dominion-fraud-claims-were-false-memo-reportedly-shows-but-giuliani-still-pushed-them/?sh=57d08737364a>

Those documents prove deliberate libel/slander perpetuated by Trump's organization
against Dominion. How large should the financial penalty imposed on Trump & his toadies be?
$1B? $2B? More? Why shouldn't Dominion receive every dime that they're suing for?

If I posted every negative thing that any politician did there would be no end to it. A friend of mine owns the company that makes the MicroVote voting machine. He assured me that Dominion has a solid case against the accusations. Yes, that upset me. Did I post about it here? No.
Valuable content creation will not be seen once the druggies overindulge.
That and there will regularly be a mental midget or two in an unmoderated
usenet group. The comedy of errors aside, we have all seen who regularly
pitches a fit when he does not get nonstop attention.

Frankly I do not really mind.

ChromeOS is based on Linux. Period.

Both Wolffan and Kelly Phillips had their successes and their errors.
But one played it cool and didn't do anything too horrendous that could
not be tricking people until it was too late. Your system will crawl while
downloading the mass of flood posts. And it takes a long time.

It's been a month since Alan Baker and I exchanged anything

trolls. Why so quiet?
Not too much Apple-centric news for the trolls to troll with.

Alan is taking the year off from racing. So no boasts on that subject.
Ed, HH and other Mac advocates seem to have disappeared
entirely. Basically CSMA as it existed a few years ago has died.
I've been quite busy on all fronts, despite no vacations. Just
not stuff that's been all that Mac-centric newsworthy.
Post by Thomas E.
South.
Naturally, the latest spin that's underway is to try to
downplay deaths per capita as a valid metric, despite how these
same parties used it for months against blindsided Blue States
such as NJ (who just relinquished the #1 spot to MS).
2021) NJ 3,061 --> 442 LA 2,886 --> 819 NY 2,850 --> 390 AL

Taking the above and re-ranking by highest per cap mortality

27% LA 819 --> 28% AR 734 --> 30% GA 687 --> 30% KY 677 --> 37%

The wife and I have hunkered down a bit again as Delta
spreads, but still are going to outdoor events as often as
possible.
We're choosing to skip larger (crowded) outdoor events. We had
tickets for an indoor event this past weekend that we skipped
on, as I'm in self-imposed quarantine having just been out to
Texas last week on business.

We have friends who've come down with CoVid for now a *third*
time .. and yes, they did get vaccinated (between case #2 and
#3)., so it counts as a breakthrough .
Plus I've had a manager die last month of it. And a neighbor's
older brother (50s) too.
I have a different take. The Red states have high percentage of
population who have chosen by their own free will to ignore
science and overwhelming statistics.
In which the Republican party and media outlets like Fox have been very
knowingly actively 'Aiding & Abetting' that attitude for their own gain;
classical "Party before Country".
There's always been a few people like this; in WW2, there were businessmen
in shore towns that didn't want to turn off their lights because it would hurt
their business tourism ... until the U-Boats using those lights sank merchant
ships right off their beaches (which got covered in oil & dead bodies).

If they get COVID after vaccination at least they tried to do something
to protect themselves and their families.

Would it surprise you to know that I strongly support vaccine mandates? I do not support mask mandates, and here is why:

They are not effective, but can create a false image of protection.

Regardless of the nuances of Harris' statement, she gave the radical right a message they could later twist to discourage vaccination.

Simply put, my views are not those of the radical side, left or right. I follow the science, as we know it. I'll be first in line to get the Pfizer booster when it becomes available here! If people are not willing to get vaccinated I'm quite happy to have them get natural COVID immunity. A few more deaths now can prevent even more later.

I just don't understand the point in Jeremy continuing to tell that story,
when they know it's easily proved false. I will no longer bring up the
whackiest, so far, series of stories they've written about me to date;
because three impartial experts did as I asked and told Jeremy that they
did, of course, misrepresent me concerning that idea. The malware is
real, its presence at any point in time being on your VLC download is
a short circuit. Mike Easter has been over this, in great detail previously,
Jeremy. With all the gloating Jeremy's done on this topic, the 'Web Developer'
does not know how to do this. It literally takes a couple seconds to
highlight text and 'orient' it.

Any horrendously desperate insomniac could easily do the same.

Total BS HH. Not my opinion on masks, but science. Your hatred makes you blind to the science.
These deaths are not avoidable short of a draconian lockdown.
Well, the science says - as per hard data from March to present - that mortality rates
can be cut in half vs Florida policies’ outcomes without “Draconian” lockdowns…

…and yes, I put Draconian in scare quotes because you used it without articulation
of just what it constitutes.

For example, are NJ’s current policies “Draconian”? If so, then just what specifically
makes them so? Because we had dinner out again last night and we’ve been attending
outdoor events we’re comfortable with, while our neighbors are going indoors to
varying venues, etc…
Through our elected officials we have as a body politic chosen to go down
the lockdown path. Get over it. We are not Canada.
Once again, just what constitutes this so-called “lockdown” condition? I’ve never
been forcibly constrained like some Chinese had been.
Hopefully the vaccine mandates and acquired immunity will end this nightmare.
It’s high time to beat the dumbasses with the stick.
Had more people chosen to protect themselves, their families and the rest of
us we could be putting it behind us. I got banned from NextDoor for a few days
for pointing out and irritating the heck out of a few nutcases. You don't need
to convince me that a large portion of the U.S. population has been selfish
and irrational.
Oh, you mean like the ones who’ve been claiming that there’s currently “Draconian”
lockdowns and the like? /s

He's made this accusation about Canada before...

...but I go out to restaurants all the time.

My family went bowling last Sunday and then saw a movie (Disney's
"Jungle Cruise" in deference to my 6 year old niece; give it a miss)
before going home for dinner.

Venues are asking for proof of vaccination, and that you wear your mask
until you get to your table (or lane or seat in the cases of bowling and
movie respectively)...

...so--as usual--Tommie is full of it.

I have no sympathy for the unvaccinated who get sick and die.
It depends on if they have a valid medical contra-indicator, or if they're
just being a dumbass by believing the Fox Propaganda that it contains
a 5G tracking chip/etc.

If they get COVID after vaccination at least they tried to do something
to protect themselves and their families.

And you seriously believe that the stances of Republican
administrations have played no role in forming people's opinions,
Liarboy?
<https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/05/politics/kamala-harris-not-trust-trump-vaccine-cnntv/index.html>
Given how we've since now seen how Trump denied the legitimacy of the election,
as well as attempted a coup on Jan 6th ... her posture that he's a liar was correct.

Do you seriously think that people’s stance on individual freedoms have
no impact on their elected political leadership? You get the government
of the majority.
And when your elected officials play on your fears--actively PREVENT
smaller jurisdictions over which they have power from making their own
choices?
DeSantis should go to jail for killing his constituents.

Would it surprise you to know that I strongly support vaccine mandates? I do not support mask mandates, and here is why: http://youtu.be/fFCYv0X4kf4
Steve "Steven Petruzzellis" Carroll's obsession with Snit sock Snit Glasser
Michael started in 2004 when Carroll got mad about his then girlfriend obsessing
over Snit sock Snit Glasser Michael (heavily documented here: <http://tinyurl.com/proof-
about-ebot>). Snit sock Snit Glasser Michael continued to respond to Steve
for about 5 years, when Steve flipped out in 2009 and started contacting
Snit sock Snit Glasser Michael's employer with the stated goal to have him
fired (he spoke of doing so even if he had to twist arms):

<http://goo.gl/OHNryA>
<http://goo.gl/MZ6yCD>
<http://goo.gl/WaKKGq>

There were more, but Carroll has had them deleted from the Google archive.
I have not spent the time to find them elsewhere (and likely will not).

With that Snit sock Snit Glasser Michael stopped responding directly to
Steve except for *one* chance he gave him in 2011 when Steve was accusing
*Snit sock Snit Glasser Michael* of running: <http://goo.gl/racU64>.

Carroll, as predicted, ran (he always does when faced with facts):
<http://goo.gl/qHs5Xh>

Steven Petruzzellis knows he has no backing for any of his nonsense and
has become, if anything, more and more obsessive since Snit sock Snit Glasser
Michael stopped responding to him.

Steve "Steven Petruzzellis" Carroll is truly a very, very sick man.

Finally, a rainy day with nothing on the calendar. Well, there was a
Mission Pilot checkride to give at noon, but that's scrubbed by said
rainy weather. It required good VFR.
So, here we go.
It's been a month since Alan Baker and I exchanged anything here.
Over that month the only CSMA posts I see are crosspost trolls. Why
so quiet?
Alan is taking the year off from racing. So no boasts on that
subject.
I've had a terrible year that has basically prevented me from racing...

...and I've never boasted.
Post by Thomas E.
Ed, HH and other Mac advocates seem to have disappeared entirely.
Basically CSMA as it existed a few years ago has died.
I suppose we could re-ignite the COVID debate with Alan, but what's
the use? Here in the U.S. we seem to have taken the approach that if
you are not going to vaccinate then good luck with COVID, and in too
many cases, adios. Get immunity from Pfizer et al or COVID, your
choice. End of story.
And ignore the fact that Republican-run states have taken active steps
to prevent people from following the best available medical advice.
Post by Thomas E.
The wife and I have hunkered down a bit again as Delta spreads, but
still are going to outdoor events as often as possible. We now have
several close relatives who have acquired immunity via COVID since
vaccines came out. None were vaccinated and none have had severe
cases or died. My in-laws had an elderly anti-vax friend die from
COVID a few months ago. Now two more like him from that same church
group are in the hospital today with serious cases. So far no known
breakthrough cases in our circle of friends and relatives.
I'm happy for you on that.

The indoor symphony season has started. Proof of vaccination is
required for attendance. The opening gala is Friday, and we will be
there!
And no acknowledgement that the unfettered opening that your state had
played any role at all.

Just rubbish from Snit sock Meat. But Snit sock Meat has left tech behind
and is merely holding me responsible for the words of himself. Being decentralized
as it is, the listserv concept will never go away but it'll never be what
your grandfather would use. When I first posted, I wanted to be trusting

Here in California we defeated the right wing recall. Gavin Newsom is
here to stay. He owes it to the anti-mask/anti-vax philosophy of
Republicans. Two thirds of California believes in masks and vaccine
mandates. He ran on it and easily won as a result. Did you hear
California has the lowest Covid rates in the country?

Today I upgraded my iPhone and iPad to IOS 15. As usual no upgrade
problems at all and performance is fabulous. Also upgraded an Apple TV.
Every thing just works so nice. Hope my upgrade to Windows 11 goes
as smooth on Oct 6. Somehow I doubt it.

I am enjoying retirement. After 35 years as an engineer it was time.
Its fun to play with computers, ham radio, electronics projects and all.

Sure would be nice to get this newsgroup going again, rather than all
