Post by John BowesA grain of salt George? Stuff shouldn't be shut down. it gives almost
as big a belly laugh as Rich and our resident nazi :)
The trouble is that there are staff behind the scenes employed to
produce news.
However the 'faces' and commentators pick and choose as to what they
will present.
Stuff has proven itself to be biased to an extent that cannot be denied
so the best thing is to shut it down and try something else.
Do you know that they're advertising that they want donations because
they're the honest news source...
Shut them down
I am sure that saying "Shut them Down" makes you feel a little better,
George; it does however sound a little like "Off with his Head!" and
other sayings whose day has passed. We now however have the rule of
law; you do not have unfettered powers. If you would like to see Stuff
closed down, you would have to do better at actually identifying even
one thing that they have done that is illegal, and then persuade a
court that the wrongdoing is such that the site should be forced to
change in some way. Thus far, you do not have appeared to have even
identified one item on that site that is even objectionable, let alone
offensive, let alone illegal.
You have demonstrated that you are also biassed - as indeed are most
posters to nz.general; do you believe you or any other poster to
nz.general should be "Shut down"? After all, you pick and choose what
you write; your views are clearly not agreed by at least some others.
The balance between freedom of speech and fredom frombeing offended is
not a simple concept, George; most people have accepted that they
cannot enforce their views on everyone else. Much is made in
political discussions of the differences between left and right, but
it has been interesting to see the move by so many from the
right-wing but very authoritarian National Party to the further right
but very libertarian ACT Party. In contrast, Labour is slightly right
wing but much less authoritarian; The Green party slightly left wing
but slightly more libertarian; with no other party as far libertarian
as ACT.
So suck up Stuff, George - it is not going to go away quickly; it is
less biassed than The Herals, less erratic than Newshub; and the
articles you seem to object to most are those that give extensive
quotations from National Party officers . . .
