I wrote and sent this earlier today but it seems to have not gone for
some reason:
After a lot of reading and thought, we've decided we will download it.

My initial response was that I'd do so when my pigs could fly but I've
changed my mind as has my husband. If it will get us back to doing what
we'd all like to be doing sooner than another 6-12 months of self
isolation, then I'll risk it.

We won't be doing any international travel anytime soon though.

Not that you are important but
Everyone you talked to will be logged and where you were.
Those you talked can be followed to see who they talked to.
Also using blue-tooth puts a excessive drain on a mobile battery.

I won't be downloading it because I don't trust the government not to
try and expand its use for other reasons. As well anything to do with
governments and apps/computer systems seem to turn into a giant cluster
fuck. What really turned me off it was SloMo's comment that it was like
National Service and to a lessor extant every Minister saying "you'll be
able to go to the footy quicker" hey we're not all footy loving bogans.

As a Day-to-Day thing, I don't have 'Data' enabled on my mobile, so if I
want to look up the Weather, get the Cricket scores or Google something,
I first have to switch on my 'Data'.

I'm guessing this would remove me from being 'scanned' or 'told' about
anyone in my neighbourhood, which is fine by me!! ;-)

All info will need a data upload, bluetooth won't do this.
The Police have instructions to fine everyone outside family who is in

Blue-tooth can be a major security hazard to the user and a god sent
backdoor for any self respecting malicious hacker.
Aside from this proposed social distancing monitoring issue it is a very
good personal practice never to enable blue-tooth without an intentional
specific reason.

BTW no amount of mobile phone based surveillance technology can help the
government if one leaves the bloody phone at home, in a turned off state
at the bottom of a desk drawer most of the time (like I do). They can
only monitor those who are addicted to their bloody mobile and can't live
w/o it even for a moment.

I had a look at what I've got turned on, no blue-tooth, no wireless and
no location. I do turn the location on when I need certain apps mainly
to do with the RFS. Of course I know my phone pings the local towers
every so often so I can be tracked if Big Brother wants to track me.

As a Day-to-Day thing, I don't have 'Data' enabled on my mobile, so if I
want to look up the Weather, get the Cricket scores or Google something,
I first have to switch on my 'Data'.
Yep, that is me too. But I never feel the urge to check the weather or
use google or cricket scores etc. When we download the app, we will
both have to trun our dats on when we go out.

I'm guessing this would remove me from being 'scanned' or 'told' about
anyone in my neighbourhood, which is fine by me!! ;-)

I wrote and sent this earlier today but it seems to have not gone
After a lot of reading and thought, we've decided we will download it.
My initial response was that I'd do so when my pigs could fly but
I've changed my mind as has my husband.  If it will get us back to
doing what we'd all like to be doing sooner than another 6-12 months
of self isolation, then I'll risk it.
We won't be doing any international travel anytime soon though.
I won't be downloading it because I don't trust the government not to
try and expand its use for other reasons. As well anything to do with
governments and apps/computer systems seem to turn into a giant
cluster fuck. What really turned me off it was SloMo's comment that
it was like National Service and to a lessor extant every Minister
saying "you'll be able to go to the footy quicker" hey we're not all
footy loving bogans.

Looks like a good excuse to leave the phone at home. Oddly enough, I did
that this morning, the phone was on charge, went to the supermarket and
didn't feel at all lost without the phone.

I do that too all the time but then doing that won't matter to the app
as we're moving whilst in the supermarket and so we'd not ping the sort
of bluetooth connection of "15 minutes within 1.5 metres" that applies
with the app.

As I understand it the info stays on your phone after being collected by
blue-tooth handshakes (elbow bumps) with people within 15m of you who
have the app. It is only if you come down with Covid-19 that the
information is uploaded to relevant State Health dept.

Just heard a spokesman for whoever the Gov has got to test it for
privacy concerns says she'll have it on her phone. Another reason I
won't have it

It's 1.5 metres and contact with them for 15 minutes and it doesn't
record location - just the contact.

I dunno about you but my chances of meeting that sort of time and
distance would only apply once a month to the members of my spinning
group (if that ever resumes again) or if I go out to dinner (which is
also rare enough these days).

Not necessarily. If the takeup of this app is sufficient, then we will
be able to do those things. That's the point of the app.

??? OK, so tell me what your conspiracy theory is about the app.

The point of the app is that if any new cluster appears (once it's
introduced and enough people take it up), it's then possibile to ony
shut down that area to confine it. That confined area than has to do
what we are doing now all over the country. The rest of the country
that does not have a cluster can get on with more close to 'normal'
business as usual.

It just makes sense to me that the app will get the economy and the
majority of the country back to business.

I can imagine your history as I know what your name is and you've hinted
at a few things in the past but I still think this app will be our best
shot at getting back to normal.

If you are really worried that the app will somehow have had its
'uninstall' function disabled, you can (later as the emergency eases)
always adopt our normal way of using our phones - we never (currently)
have our phones turned on the data. We both just use the phone
function. We're prepared to change our phone use for what we think will
be the good of the country and normally, we are as paranoid as all hell.
I never even put anything with our names/address/personal details into
our garbage bins - I burn all such stuff. AND, financially, unless the
banks fail, this pandemic won't have any impact on us. We figure, as
good citizens, this is not something we can sit back and ignore that we
must do our bit even if it goes against our normal inbuilt habits.

The Special Branch stuff resulted from my Uni days and the fact that my

That's it, no hints that is the bare facts.

Well we normally would be in that sort of group too (we both worked for
govt with probably a combined service time of at least 80 years so we
have no scales on our eyes about the fuckers), but this is, in our
opinions, a unique time in our human history and we think we need to
step up, do our bit and STFU.

Grumpy is good IMO and absolutley vital given the morons we see here on
a daily basis but we do 'live in interesting times' right now. I'm
trying not to be grumpy about having to turn on my data and pay more for
that when my natural mode is to fly under all radars.

I know I'm not Robinson Crusoe when it came to the Special Branch. While
it did cause me hassles as it was often raised during vetting it was

If you are really worried that the app will somehow have had its
'uninstall' function disabled, you can (later as the emergency eases)
always adopt our normal way of using our phones - we never
(currently) have our phones turned on the data.  We both just use the
phone function.  We're prepared to change our phone use for what we
think will be the good of the country and normally, we are as
paranoid as all hell.   I never even put anything with our
names/address/personal details into our garbage bins - I burn all
such stuff.  AND, financially, unless the banks fail, this pandemic
won't have any impact on us.  We figure, as good citizens, this is
not something we can sit back and ignore that we must do our bit even
if it goes against our normal inbuilt habits.
Good on you for doing this. I'm just a bit sick of politicians telling
me what to do.
Well we normally would be in that sort of group too (we both worked for
govt with probably a combined service time of at least 80 years so we
have no scales on our eyes about the fuckers), but this is, in our
opinions, a unique time in our human history and we think we need to
step up, do our bit and STFU.
Good on you

OK after the last 6 months I'm turning into a grumpy old man and
getting less and less trustworthy of people's motivations
Grumpy is good IMO and absolutley vital given the morons we see here on
a daily basis but we do 'live in interesting times' right now.  I'm
trying not to be grumpy about having to turn on my data and pay more for
that when my natural mode is to fly under all radars.

LOL.  I know a couple of Jews who love bacon.  But I also know a

Must say I liked his attitude of sticking it to the Nazis

The Special Branch stuff resulted from my Uni days and the fact that
my mates and I used to go to political meetings for the free piss. I
ended up with a dossier that caused me problems when it came to
vetting later.
That's it, no hints that is the bare facts.
Lots of people had Special Branch files but I was never one of them as
far as I know.  I used to love putting on my applications for security
clearances that I was a member of such subversive groups as the Lace
Knitters Group, the Machine Knitters Guild, various Spinners groups
and the CWA.  Cop that lot spooks!
I know I'm not Robinson Crusoe when it came to the Special Branch. While
it did cause me hassles as it was often raised during vetting it was
easily laughed off as being contradictory BS. What still shits me off is

Yep. The Special Branch history is simply appalling but most vetters
would probably understand the 'free piss' defence for any Uni Student.
Uni students are usually broke and any free piss is a bonus.

Have you read up on Peter Cundall's interactions with the spooks?
Cundall has been a lifelong communist and he is just a hoot to read on
how he dealt with the spooks. He used to go out to their spying van and
offer then a cup of tea and a bickie or suggest they came inside where
it was warm if they wanted to spy on him.

I can't remember now where I came across his speaking of the spooks - it
was years ago now but I've never forgotten the tale. It was hugely
funny. I could just imagine the spooks being flustered when a Cundall
appeared with a cup of tea and a bickie at their evesdropping van. I've

And yes, Costa is no quite as good IMO.

Yep, that is me too.  But I never feel the urge to check the
weather or use google or cricket scores etc.  When we download
the app, we will both have to trun our dats on when we go out.
As I understand it the info stays on your phone after being
collected by blue-tooth handshakes (elbow bumps) with people
within 15m of you who have the app. It is only if you come down
with Covid-19 that the information is uploaded to relevant State
Health dept.
It's 1.5 metres and contact with them for 15 minutes and it
doesn't record location - just the contact.
Exactly right
Post by Fran
I dunno about you but my chances of meeting that sort of time and
distance would only apply once a month to the members of my
spinning group (if that ever resumes again) or if I go out to
dinner (which is also rare enough these days).
If your spinning group is meeting again and/or you're out to dinner
the crisis will be over.
Not necessarily.  If the takeup of this app is sufficient, then we
will be able to do those things.  That's the point of the app.
OK if you think so

You missed out the 15 minutes contact as as far as I can see, that
is one very vital part of the app.  From what I can make out,
neither you nor I will it that sort of contact time very often due

The info is stored on your phone till needed and you have to

Do security camera stop crime?
No,they just improve the chances of revenge/justice.

In the LGA, one person came back from Os in march and now they have a
local transmitted in the wild. enough cases so that we have a special

Wrong again, Piggy. It's very relevant. It's just that it makes
the *opposite* of the point news18 wants to make.

Security cameras also improve the chance of detecting contacts.

I live with someone whose career in IT started when Australia was still
importing 'ADP' experts from the UK. He dealt with, wrote specs for
(and developed), contracted, and crucified more security 'twonks' on
more major govt systems than you will have had hot dinners.

I wrote and sent this earlier today but it seems to have not gone
After a lot of reading and thought, we've decided we will download it.
My initial response was that I'd do so when my pigs could fly but
I've changed my mind as has my husband.  If it will get us back to
doing what we'd all like to be doing sooner than another 6-12
months of self isolation, then I'll risk it.
We won't be doing any international travel anytime soon though.
I won't be downloading it because I don't trust the government not
to try and expand its use for other reasons. As well anything to do
with governments and apps/computer systems seem to turn into a giant
cluster fuck. What really turned me off it was SloMo's comment that
it was like National Service and to a lessor extant every Minister
saying "you'll be able to go to the footy quicker" hey we're not all
footy loving bogans.
Of course we aren't all footy loving bogans but I'm sure that
everyone wants to be able to get back to going out whenever they feel
like it.
Everyone already gives away massive amounts of free information
singing up for Flybuys and store cards and all other shit.  We wont'
do any of those things but we've decided we will do the App as we can
delete it at
You *might* be able to delete it. OTOH, it might be a bit sticky -
like that blasted Facebook when I wanted it off my phone because it
was beginning to bug me in a bad way.
Is there now a conspiracy theory that they government is going to
somehow going to disable the 'unistall' option on mobile phones?
I didn't say that at all. I said it might be *sticky*. I uninstalled
Facebook in the usual way. The problem was that it simply didn't seem to
uninstall *all of it*. Whether it is a simple uninstall depends on what
was done during the install, and how. Possibly added hooks into the OS,
not sure, but a standard install didn't get rid of it.

I'm not really interested in Facebook which I know has the reputation
for not being easy to opt out of (rather than 'uninstall') once you've
signed up. I really want to know if you or anyone has had problems with
removing phone apps.

You do with google android. Remove the apps you don't want and the phone
is broken. Google is worse than microsoft ever was with intertnet

I got rid of all the microsoft stuff on my Galaxy s9 without any

But then, I haven't been game to try that with the google shit.

So downloading and installing an app and then later uninstalling that
app destroys an Android phone? How does that work?

Surely that could only be be the result of deleting (part of) the

It doesn't. I've removed everything M$ from mine. No problems.

Yes, I have had a couple. I presume they like to leave hooks into system
files or something. Apple iOS apps are always portable, they dump into a
folder in apps and just run from there. These weren't like that, more
like a Windows application install with system files in a specific
folder, etc. One was some kind of system analysis app so that might
explain that one. It had instructions on how to uninstall it too. The
other one forced me to go to Google to find out how the app was
uninstalled completely. Can't recall the names of those apps, was some
time ago and on a previous phone.

Seems the APP can be used in court against you.

The federal government needs to make data collected from the app
exempt from use by the legal system and decentralisethe way it alerts
users.

I won't be downloading it because I don't trust the government not to
try and expand its use for other reasons. As well anything to do with
governments and apps/computer systems seem to turn into a giant cluster

National Service and to a lessor extant every Minister saying "you'll be

My initial response was that I'd do so when my pigs could fly but I've
changed my mind as has my husband.  If it will get us back to doing what
we'd all like to be doing sooner than another 6-12 months of self

We won't be doing any international travel anytime soon though.
Haven't done any international travel since 2001 and no intention in the

If Barnaby Joyce doesn't trust his running mates, why should we?
I do not give a flying fuck about ANYTHING that Joyce has to say. I
suggest that we all ignore Joyce, because he is a moron.
Sadly he is not only just any sad moron, he is a politically very nasty
one. Ignoring him can be dangerous.

My initial response was that I'd do so when my pigs could fly but I've
changed my mind as has my husband.  If it will get us back to doing
what we'd all like to be doing sooner than another 6-12 months of self
isolation, then I'll risk it.
We won't be doing any international travel anytime soon though.
Haven't done any international travel since 2001 and no intention in
the future but still won't be downloading *anything* the Liberal
government sanctions that has the risk potential of this app.
**If Dutton suggests that we download the app, I will avoid it at all
costs. I wouldn't trust that Nazi as far as I can throw him.
I completely mirror you in that sentiment.

That's only intermediary. After that, they will introduce a workers'

Getting back to Dutton, I classify him as an Authoritarian and

"Pig ignorant" is *your* attribute Piggy. The misuse of "Authoritarian"

long history, but that doesn't change the fact that they'e not political
creeds: they are the methodologies of tyranny, and have been used by
*both* left and right.

Obviously Nazism has not been anywhere near the political Left (the Nazis
have persecuted, dumped into concentration camps or right out executed
countless social democrats, socialist and communists).

In addition the following articles are also relevant:

*Intellectual origins*
<https://www.britannica.com/topic/fascism/Intellectual-origins>

*Precursors and Origins of Italian Fascism*
<https://www.libertarianism.org/columns/precursors-origins-italian-
fascism>

It seems these days many people out in the public domain propagate the
belief that capitalism is synonymous with fascism and communism with
totalitarianism. That was/is clearly NOT the case even if these two
econopolitical ideologies had/may still lead to such undesirable outcomes
in governance.

I hope Xeno is willing to educate himself.

state of mind though. I still want to know if Trump wears makeup.
Do you know anyone else who has orange skin?
My first daughters skin turned orange when she was a baby. Dr told us to
reduce the mushed carrot and sweet potato. Has a fancy name, apparently
fairly common with first time parents.

I do not give a flying fuck about ANYTHING that Joyce has to say. I
suggest that we all ignore Joyce, because he is a moron.
Maybe Barnaby doesn't want his phone tracked because he is cheating on his
missus again?

Highly likely scenario.

Maybe he thinks it was his Lib mates who shopped him last time?

Nothing astonishes Noddy so much as common sense and plain dealing.

After a lot of reading and thought, we've decided we will download it.
If Barnaby Joyce doesn't trust his running mates, why should we?

Yes, he is, and he just keeps on proving it. My point was that the Nats
don't even trust the Libs.

My initial response was that I'd do so when my pigs could fly but
I've changed my mind as has my husband.  If it will get us back to
doing what we'd all like to be doing sooner than another 6-12 months
of self isolation, then I'll risk it.
We won't be doing any international travel anytime soon though.
No disagreement from me on that score.

Because he's a fuckwit who doesn't understand what he's being told.
He's not alone.
