Hell no. They're terrified Chavez might be replaced by someone
other than a radical, America hating Marxist that'll cut-off their
entitlements. But, Chavez's family should do quite well since Hugo
Chavez, the man of the people, amassed a fortune of over $2 billion
while "his people" live like rat's in a sewer.

Celebrities seldom have talent and are usually stupid. Liberalism,
particularly of the hyperemotional, reflexive, unthinking kind
exemplified by Hollywood celebrities, *IS* stupidity itself. Sean Penn
and Oliver Stone are monumentally stupid people. Sean Penn couldn't
find his own ass with both hands and a flashlight. Penn is too much
even for some Hollywood celebrities - one called him a "communist
asshole", which is exactly right.

No -- all tyrants and oppressors go there, including your leftist heroes
like Stalin, lenin, Mao, Pol Pot, Saddam Hussein, Hugo Chavez, Fidel and
Raul Castro, Che Guevara, Kim il Sung, Kim Sung Il, Benito Mussolini and
Adolph Hitler, go there, as well as Pinochet, Chaing Kai Chek, Francisco
Franco, Attila the Hun, most of the Caesars and a host of other tyrants
throughout h
istory.

And was elected in democratic elections on three or four (?) occasions by
the
majority of Venezuelans - seems to me he made life better for the exploited
classes and made life harder for those that did the exploiting whereas the
USA
has elections which are won by those with the deepest pockets and do very
little to improve the living conditions of the great majority of Americans -
but
seem very happy to bail out their mates on Wall St and in Detroit and then
allow them to shove it up the average Joe.

Occutard? What the hell is that. Your cutesy little tardwords really

Thats rich coming from someone who would find it difficult to understand
what democracy means, most non US citizens know what it means.
Majority rules - not the minority with the largest wallets. What you are
advocating is corporate fascism - but that has been US foreign policy
since 1945, especially in South America with support of extreme right
wing movements. Corporate fascism is alive and well in the US - just
look at how easy it was for the big banks and Wall St investors to get
bailed out with taxpayers money, the majority of Americans had nothing
invetsed with those businesses.

Wrong. Are won by jobless welfare breeders and pro-illegals with an
agenda. Those parasites are bringing the USA down. The middle class

You can bet the budget cuts will not effect the breeders.

Sean Penn and Other Hollywood Elite Worshipped Chavez
Tuesday, 05 Mar 2013 07:28 PM
By Bill Hoffmann

A host of Hollywood A-listers have rushed to support Hugo Chavez over
the years — the most glaring example of which was Sean Penn.

The Oscar-winning actor Penn continuously praised Chavez, saying he
generously helped his country’s poor and destitute and was a
fascinating and bold leader.

Chavez, who ruled Venezuela with an iron fist for 14 years, died on
Tuesday after battling cancer for two years. He had, over the years,
been feted by Hollywood's elite even as he remained a thorn in the
side of America's policies in the region.

During the Penn visit to Chavez, the loudmouth star ripped the
policies of President George W. Bush towards Chavez and once whipped
himself into such a frenzy that he reportedly called for the arrest of
those who referred to Chavez as a dictator.

“[Chavez is] one of the most important forces we've had on this
planet," Penn gushed late last year as the Venezuelan president’s
health deteriorated.

“And I’ll wish him nothing but that great strength he has shown over
and over again. I do it in love, and I do it in gratitude.

“I just want to say, from my very American point of view, of my friend
President Chavez: It is only possible to be so inspiring as he is, as
a two-way street.’’

Penn also accused the American media of going after Chavez and telling
“lies’’ about him.

The actor’s love of Chavez became so embarrassing to some in Hollywood
that Matt Stone and Trey Parker savagely lampooned him in their movie
"Team America: World Police" a parody that infuriated the star.

Penn had plenty of company when it came to his Chavez worship.

Other unabashed admirers included Kevin Spacey, Danny Glover, Oliver
Stone, Harry Belafonte, Naomi Campbell, and Princeton University
Professor Cornel West.

And some are nearly as critical as Penn.

Belafonte labeled George W. Bush the "greatest tyrant in the world,’’
while telling Chavez how “millions’’ of Americans supported him.

Boxing promoter Don King praised Chavez and his "revolution,’’
announcing, "To see what is happening here makes me feel good all
over.’’

I once sat next to Cornel West on the train from Princeton Junction to

Intellectually, he couldn't hold a candle to Shelby Steele, although
Steele looks like he gets his tan at the same spray booth as John
Boehner. He doesn't really look black.

I'd expect a despot to create a "department of Fatherland Security" armed
with lots of ammo, tanks, and weapons of war. You know, the kind Obama says
don't belong on the streets of USA.

A despot would declare that he has the power to kill anyone in the nation,
with or without due process of law. You know, like the drones Obama is
ordering to be built.

I'd expect a despot to create a "department of Fatherland Security" armed
with lots of ammo, tanks, and weapons of war. You know, the kind Obama says
don't belong on the streets of USA.
Since when did the president have the soul say on what weapons systems
are to be built for and deployed by the military?

There was nothing unfair about either the election or reelection of
George W. Bush as president. People who say the Supreme Court
"appointed" him president are idiots. The endless Democrat attempts at
recounts in Florida were a blatant attempt at stealing the election.
It's quite likely they weren't even attempting to win the state's
electoral votes; they more likely were trying to *prevent* the state's
vote from being certified and reported to Congress, which would have
given the election to Gore. It was blatant. The Supreme Court put a
stop to it, and Bush was duly elected by the Electoral College. Every
subsequent analysis showed that Bush would have won Florida no matter
how many recounts were done, as long as the ballots were not manipulated
and contaminated by Democrats.

Bush's reelection was never credibly challenged as being anything less
than clean.

There's much more to it than that. The Democrats were working furiously
to get whole categories of ballots *disqualified*, making a mockery of
their pious declaration of trying to be sure "every vote is counted."
They were entirely selective about *which* ballots with hanging chads
they were trying to get counted. They were closely scrutinizing
irregular ballots to see if it was a likely vote for Gore or more likely
for Bush. If the ballot generally appeared to be for Republicans with
an ambiguous vote for president, they were handling it roughly to try
expressly to render the vote for president invalid.

All of Florida's EC votes. That's how nearly all states award their EC
votes. There's nothing irregular or shady or sneaky or fraudulent about it.

In the end, of course, there was very little question that Bush won the
Florida vote. All subsequent analysis showed that he would have won
every legitimate, non-fraudulent recount. The claim that the SCOTUS
"appointed" him president is not only an idiotic lie, it fundamentally
gets the Constitution wrong, as the court has no such appointment power.

Good. He was an oppressive asshole who made life worse for Venezuelans.
Ah balls. He got re-elected in a *fair* election.
No, he didn't. What fucking election were /you/ watching, cuntflaps?

According to the Associated Press, Venezuela’s electoral council
has declared that Hugo Chavez beat Henriques Capriles in Sunday’s
presidential election with about 54 percent of the vote, despite
exit polls showing otherwise.

Venezuela Twitter users have claimed Chavez’s victory was wrought
with election fraud, and that the socialist incumbent president
sent tanks into the streets of his country as those exit poll
reports showed him losing. A picture of the tanks surfaced on
Twitter Sunday evening.

http://dailycaller.com/2012/10/07/report-exit-polls-show-hugo-chavez-lost-venezuelan-election/#ixzz2MmFavlLa

Amid an imploding economy, runaway inflation, shortages of basic
goods, electricity blackouts, surging violence, and widespread
accusations of voter fraud in Venezuela, socialist strongman Hugo
Chávez allegedly won a narrow victory in Sunday’s presidential
election, according to the nation’s National Electoral Council
(CNE). Though the Venezuelan regime has a ban on publishing the
results of exit polls, a widely cited survey conducted by the
consulting firm Varianza showed opposition candidate Henrique
Capriles ahead by a slim margin as the vote was coming to an end.

Being a doctrinaire left-wing fuckwit, though, you have to pretend to
see something else.

Chavez imposed a constitution that limited the president to two terms;
then, when he didn't like that restriction, he simply lifted it through
a sham "referendum".

This guy was just one more in a long line of Latin American
caudillos...and because his caudilloism was left-wing, you lap it up.

Is is always leftists that do things like that. The US went to war in
Vietnam over an issue that could have been resolved with a democratic
election. The Vietnamese had a massive nationalist movement that wanted
to wrestle their country away from France. The communists were only one
of many nationalist groups. There was a civil war and the country was
divided roughly in the middle. The deal that ended that war left the
communists in charge of the North and called for a national referendum
on reunification by. As the date for the referendum approached and it
became very clear that the communists were going to win the popular
vote, the corrupt leadership of the south had the full support of the
US to cancel the referendum.

So here you are accusing one leader of holding a sham referendum when
the US supported an truly corrupt regime to cancel a previously agrees
upon vote because they knew they were going to lose.

While he did indeed make life worse for some Venezuelans, he
made life better for far more Venezuelans, particularly
access to food and education for the less privileged, i.e.
the vast majority.

As of 2011, the following ten countries have adopted a
framework law on food security or the right to food:
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Indonesia, Nicaragua, Peru and Venezuela.[48] Moreover, in
2011 the following nine countries were drafting a framework
law on food security or the right to food: Honduras, India,
Malawi, Mexico, Mozambique, Paraguay, South Africa, Tanzania
and Uganda.[49] Finally, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Peru are
drafting to update, replace or strengthen their framework
law.[50]
<snip>

http://venezuela-us.org/educacion-en-numeros/
<snip>
One of the main achievements of the Bolivarian government of
Venezuela has been the expansion of educational
opportunities and resources for the majority of the
Venezuelan people. Beyond increasing access to existing
basic and higher education, Venezuela has instituted
programs aimed at sectors of the population who have been
left out of the formal education system. These programs,
known as “missions,” have served millions of Venezuelans,
allowing them to gain basic literacy, complete basic or
higher education, and enter the workforce.
<snip>

The society/culture/economy of Venezuela is totally
different than the current U.S. society/culture/environment
and most closely resembles the U.S. south during
reconstruction.

It should be remembered that the U.S. government or rogue
elements (Spruille Braden Brigade?) fomented a coup against
Chavez, which would have succeeded except for the personal
loyalty of the Parachute [air mobile] regiment of which
Chavez had been the well liked and respected commander,
which intervened just moments before Chavez was to commit
[assisted] suicide.

The US news media is *HIGHLY* provincial bordering on
Agitprop*, and most likely you should take a little time to
see how other people/countries perceive things. To start the

There may not be a "right" but it in the government's
self-interest to keep their population adequately but not
extravagantly fed.

In the recent past the so-called "Arab spring" was far more
about hunger than any huge desire for "freedom," and a
number of Arab ex leaders are either dead or in jail as the
direct result their failure to insure an adequate food
supply ==>at prices the people could afford<== (which is far
different than "free" food, but which may require CCC/WPA
type projects to insure they have the money to buy it).

FWIW -- much of this appears to be self inflicted, for
example immediately after independence from the UK, Egypt
was self-sufficient in food production, now they must import
c.40% of their food and 60% of their wheat, and even an
increase of even a few dollars a ton for wheat is a killer
for people for whom bread is a staple and who must spend
30-40% (and more) of their income on food.
http://www.businessinsider.com/egypts-food-problem-in-a-nutshell-2011-1
http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2011/12/20111219143454601107.html

While the Aswan High Dam and Lake Nassar did take
considerable highly productive land out of cultivation,
there appears to be no reason that water was not used to
being even more land into cultivation ==>for domestic food
production<== through irrigation. One contributing factor
appears to be the enormous population shift from the
productive countryside, where there was subsistence
agriculture to fall back on, to the grossly oversized
ultra-high density urban areas which are famines waiting to
happen, and revolutions waiting to start.
