That isn't going to work.
You aren't going to be able to mount the pub.edb on another server. If you
want the information, you'll have to set up a recovery server that has the
same Exchange org, same server name, same Admin Group name, etc. only then
will you be able to mount the pub.edb
That, or you might look at some 3rd party tools. Quest has a GREAT tool
called Recovery Manager for Exchange, but I don't know offhand if it works
with Public databases. I do know it works with Mailbox databases, and it
has the ability to read directly from tape, or offline edb files. Pricing
is very reasonable, too.

Post by AtlasPost by Ben Winzenz [Exchange MVP]Did you give the fresh new server the same name as the old Exchange
server? I believe that's the only way you are going to be able to restore
a copy of the pub.edb and allow it to be mounted.
Well..... no..
the lost the exchangeserver was installed on a domain backup server. So
when I've setup the new server on the PDC I've discovered that it was
retaining the same organization name of the backup server.. maybe cause
some info was stored somewehere in the AD.
The Exchange console showed 2 servers the new one and the old one
(unaccessible).
So I've demoted the old server with adsiedit.
I was going to remove the organization with the /removeorg option......
Now I have only the new server installed and would ike to extract data
from pub.edb........
In the main console
Post by Ben Winzenz [Exchange MVP]When you set up the new server, you would install Exchange using the
/disasterrecovery switch, then install the same service pack as the
original server.

Post by AtlasExchange Server 2003; PC hosting it failed, and .bkf damaged or
corrupt. What is left (and what I'm interested in) is the pub.edb. Don't
care about transtaction logs.
Easyiest way to restore the public folders (pub.edb) to a fresh new server?
