Coo, I didn't see that coming!

In fact I'm sure it breaks some unwritten rule whereby such things are
heavily flagged for some time to a point where the audience gets slightly
annoyed because they've known for ages but none of the characters has
guessed yet.

Well, I don't want Alice to now be the cossetted mother-to-be of the
Aldridge and Horrobin family and get off free with nothing bad
happening to her after being so poisonous. I want misery and shame for
her! But I don't want the baby to be born with disabilities because
Alice drunk lots in pregnancy. And I don't want Gavin to turn out
nice either. He isn't! So is he going to use the information? I still
want him and Philip to be ostracised for causing the explosion and for
slavery.

I don't know the details of the logging being proposed, and I am aware
of the current thinking about alcohol during pregnancy - but the logging
being proposed (if it's as I determine from that gransnet thread) seems,
to me, horrific (and I'm a man); it's part of the removal of rights once
pregnancy is confirmed. I see it - though I do see the differences too -
as being at least related to the virtual imprisonment of the pregnant in
those states of the US that are anti-abortion.

As one of the gransnet posters put it: a woman is more than a uterus.

(And as another said: how would the men react, if their drinking just
before conception was logged - on their medical records too, natch.)

It is also planned to log the mother's irresponsible drinking prior to
knowing she was pregnant on the records of the child.

It is passed on by the sons in their botanicals.

The TA production team must have been doing a dance of pure joy when
they heard that in the news this week, at their perfect timing for this
story!

Ah but how come the timing was so perfect?? A tipoff? A planned story
to support the policy?
