we received a new BL870c with cisco 9148s switches and an 8440 3par. I've connected fibre cables as of right now between the switch and a current 2660 and the 3par, but no luck seeing the disks I have presented to the 2660.

i configured the switch with the following is there a step after this?
none of the lights on the switch turned green.

also on the blade I am unable to access the virtual connection window due to flash no longer supported on my windows box,

any thoughts

thanks
Paul

You shouldn't need the fwwn entries.

Did you create a zoneset containing the zone?
Did you set the zoneset active?
Have you put license acquire statements on the ports in use and turned
them up?
It sounds like you have multiple switches. Have you configured any
ports as expansion ports to connect the switches together?

There are a lot of steps to configuring a SAN switch. You've only shown
a tiny piece here.

this was everything I had done up to this point. I was able to activate it and change operational state

well we have somewhat successfully connected the 3Par to the existing servers. the rx2620 has one cable and has 2 paths to the 3Par. now the existing production server rx8640 has 2 cables and 3 paths!
and I got this from VSI.

according to the 3Par I have 5 paths and with 3 free. I have moved the cables around on the switch and the ports follow. which tells me the switch is setup correctly? I even attempted to hook it up to the Brocade on said free port. and Brocade sees the SAN. but port is still free

anyone have any thoughts as to how to get those free ports working? or what could be wrong?

thanks

OK you have a 3PAR configuration issue

VMS can see the port but the port is saying it has no device that it is presenting.

Probing Target 6 ==========================================================

Port WWID: 2102-0002-AC01-A6E1
Node WWID: 2FF7-0002-AC01-A6E1

Target = 6. LUN = 0.
----------------------
Standard Inquiry failed, status = 908
Unable to get target data at target 6 LUN 0, status = 908 (SS$_NOSUCHDEV)

If you look at the other 3PAR ports you see that each of them have a SCC LUN0 and each port reports the number of device and then each device.

Probing Target 5 ==========================================================

Port WWID: 2002-0002-AC01-A6E1
Node WWID: 2FF7-0002-AC01-A6E1

Target = 5. LUN = 0.
----------------------
Devname: Not Configured
Vendor ID: 3PARdata
Product ID: ARRAY
Devtype: C (SCC)
Rev Level: 3315
Pg00 supported, Pg83 supported, Pg80 unsupported.
Standard UDID status = 2c
Vendor-specific UDID status = f4

Reported LUN count = 38. at target 5.

You will need to work this with your 3PAR support

I plugged another fibre cable in and got the 4th path to show up.

the only oddity is all 4 paths have the same device of fgg0:

I'll deal with that if I have to later. since I'm trying to retire it and move to the following.

I have a BL870c i4 that is also attached to the 3Par and I exported the volumes to it but for some reason ILO isn't able to see it.

and with another call into VSI. the issue was that the EFI scan setting had to be set to full under the drvcfg settings.

thanks everyone!
