Subject: Re: [Info-vax] new VMS setup
well we have somewhat successfully connected the 3Par to the existing
servers. the rx2620 has one cable and has 2 paths to the 3Par. now the
existing production server rx8640 has 2 cables and 3 paths!
and I got this from VSI.
according to the 3Par I have 5 paths and with 3 free. I have moved the
cables
around on the switch and the ports follow. which tells me the switch is
setup
correctly? I even attempted to hook it up to the Brocade on said free
port.
and Brocade sees the SAN. but port is still free
anyone have any thoughts as to how to get those free ports working? or what
could be wrong?
thanks

thanks for the links.
I plugged another fibre cable in and got the 4th path to show up.
the only oddity is all 4 paths have the same device of fgg0:

I'll deal with that if I have to later. since I'm trying to retire it and move to the following.
I have a BL870c i4 that is also attached to the 3Par and I exported the volumes to it but for some reason ILO isn't able to see it.

reconnect -r or map -r isn't working either for them to show up

I was able to boot this once and got a memory dump at the end of startup. reconfigured memory since it was installed in pairs and not quads,
and have not been able to boot since,
I wish there was hair to pull out !
thanks for any feedback
