not as silly as it sounds...I know somebody who bought two ICOM IC718s
and didn't take them out of the box until I was silly enough to buy one
of them a few years later...true

When I was young, I made the mistake of playing with my Dinky toys. If
I'd left them in sealed up their boxes, they would have been worth a
fortune today. I could have sold them, and bought a decent amateur
transceiver - which I could leave sealed in its box until it became
collectable, then sold it and bought something I really wanted.

As for my Icom 7300, FT450D, and this year's burfdee, FTDX1200!

As soon as the room's cleared out, and the shelving sorted, and
the new vertical antenna risen, might get around to the FTDX1200
on account of having seen my neighbour's despite that he's an M6.

"RSGBTech is meant for everyone", or so the RSGB says. The group is
moderated 'to
ensure that the questions are on topic', but the group's own admissions
policy mention
(a pre-) 'vet', 'known', 'trouble', and 'maker', but not the vetting
policy! None of these are
'moderation' issues and none are mentioned in the RSGB's Guidelines.....

I managed to get a QSO with VP8MC in the Falkland Islands, who came
back to my QSO. My antenna was put together with so many mistakes,
that out of my 80-100W from my trusty Yaesu FT200, maybe1, yes ONE,
made it up the spout of my Hy-Gain 18AVT, 80-10m vertical, ground
mounted.

I experienced something similar in the 1989 - whilst enjoying a
quiet lunchtime cross-town chat on 10m (I was operating /M from works
car park) when we were called by a VP8 (Antarctica). After we went QRT
suddenly 10m was heaving with dxers....

Then you can give yourselves TVI etc. NOBODY around here except my

But lots of stuff can still suffer from audio-breakthough from the
best-made stations. My last TV did - I must have had the last CRT
television in England. Only got a flat-screen a few months ago which
is (thankfully) interference-free for a) Only the XYL watches it, if
you can count my max of an hour a week "watching" and b) I can tell
anybody who may complain about interference to "go away" (politeness
filter engaged).
