How does one use this?

According to Michael Kennedy's bio of Boult, the only time he conducted 'The Planets' in Boston was in 1946. Is this that performance?

I believe the entries are all posts in the newsgroup a.b.sounds.mp3.classical, each one containing a bit of the larger file. Selecting them and clicking on "Create nzb" will create an nzb file on your hard drive (assuming of course that you're subscribed to newsgroups in some way).

NZB files are analogous to zip files and need to be unpacked using the appropriate program. More on nzb files (and a bit else) here:

It would nice if some kind person with a newsgroup sub would dl these files and post them in a more generally accessible way.

NZB files are nor analogous to ZIP files. They're simply a text file
list (XML format) of every USENET post that contains contents of the
binary file(s) you need to re-assemble them into a usable format.
There's a kind of steep learning curve to all this.

Ditto indeed! ... I assume this is the earliest-but-one surviving performance of 'The Planets' by an American orchestra, having been preceded by the Stokowski / NBC SO broadcast of 1943 (Cala CACD0526). Is the Boult also taken off an issued CD and was it played in Symphony Hall or at Tanglewood?

One does but it's rather rare: the 1954 Nixa recording with a disguised LPO. Someone may have uploaded a great transfer from LP however.

I have always preferred the 1966 NPO recording to the later one. That one should have been quad to be an improvement.

There was a quad SACD from Esoteric. Quite expensive and had to order from Japan. Users on an SACD forum that bought it rave about it.

I wouldn't say "unnecessary"; its "Saturn" gets it exactly right, in a way
that all his previous recordings merely approached. IMAO, of course.

Reportedly, it was an early digital recording, although only analog versions have been released.
