Ivans move E-7 to E-6 ....Pawn

Wow , i can not remember Ivan opening like this so when we get into it a
few more moves maybe some one can tell us the name of this opening...

Your scared to open D-2 to D-4 , i need Helpbot or Mr K to explain the
opening to me .
In other words which one of these moves leads to a more complicated
game E-2 to E-4 or D-2 to D-4 ??
Or Sanny just tell me what scares you about that D- to D-4 move ?

Hey i have a bet , lets say Ivan wins this game then the next game we
play " Normal level " AND you open D-2 to D-4 ........
IF Ivan loses then the next game we play this level and you open E-2
to E-4 ....
Sound like a fair bet to you ??

i just think ivan is stronger than gc at this level..
but we will see , every game is different.....

we can just move from this thread and let the other one die....

Hmmm, I was hoping Ivan would play 6...Qxd5, and if 7.Nc3 Bb4,
planning to inflict doubled pawns on White. As we all know, doubled
pawns are the most serious weakness, worse even than losing the queen.

Now that [GetClub now as Strong as Rybka] it might be interesting to
compare what Rybka would have done at various stages as this game
progresses

On move 7 Rybka would play c4 rather than 7.Nc3?! which blocks the c-
pawn. The Rybka idea would be to have a pawn presence in the centre or,
if Ivan takes on c4, after Bxc4, White really does have central control

Rybka would never play 8.Bg5? It would not want to move the same piece
twice this early in the game unless absolutely necessary, especially
when there is other development to be completed. In fact if Ivan now
plays 8...Be7! it is Rybka's view that GetClub has already lost its
first move advantage and the position is virtually equal. So GetClub
says White +1.4, Rybka says White +0.1

Goodness, Bc5 is a pretty poor move, how long is Ivan set to think for?
- maybe GetClub can win this and be crowned Chess King of the Universe

White can defend the knight very neatly with 9.Qe2+ Kf8 10.0-0-0 and
that's a nice advantage!

Mr. Hallsworth was correct about 8...Bc5?; pretty bad move. Better
was 8...Be7. Ivan has really botched the opening here. Now, assuming
GC follows up correctly with 10.Bxf6 gxf6, Black will have a hard time
finding a safe place for his king. Of course, given GC's rather poor
attacking ability, it may not matter.

Hang in there, SAT-W7. GetClub has already missed two chances to
increase its advantage: 12.Qd3?! instead of 12.Qh5!, and the
archetypally pointless 14.Kb1?! instead of 14.Nde2, winning the d-
pawn. So already there are indications that GC may not know how to
capitalize on its early advantage.

BTW, watch out for Sanny trying to cheat by taking back moves. His
program does that now. Fortunately in this game all the moves are
played in public, so I suppose he won't have the opportunity. But he
probably would if he could!

There was a bug. So it played Bxd4. After the bug was corrected. 4
moves were removed just for your pleasure.

Its nice to play with non buggy program than a buggy one.

Today GetClub was improved as a big bug was asking it to kill pieces
for positional advantage.

I hope this game against Normal you will win easily as 20 moves have
been played with the bug.

If you wish I cancel your game so that you can start a new game.

I stopped sending in Rybka moves over the week-end when I noticed that
GetClub, for the first time, suddenly started playing moves which I'd
shared that Rybka had suggested. Of course it played them a move later
than the suggestion, but they were still effective

Over the week-end Rybka would definitely not have played 12.Qd3, but
instead the much better 12.Qh5. Also 14.f4 instead of the time-waster
Kb1. It also analysed 17.Qe2 as ? - yet another queen move - but I wont
share what it would have played yet as that move might still be well
worth playing after Black's next

Interesting. In these games between GC and Ivan, I had been posting
analysis of potential future moves, on the assumption that neither
operator would be able to make his program use those moves, that they
would simply have to let the programs play. But if there's even a
chance that Sanny is using such analysis in an unethical way, I shall
have to cease posting potentially usefull variations.
Given Sanny's casual disregard for factual truth and chess rules, it
would not surprise me at all if he's been using analysis posted by Mr.
Hallsworth, myself or others against SAT-W7 and Ivan.

I am not doing any such thing. GetClub itself is playing as good moves
as Rybka. If you do not believe it. Play a new game with Easy Level
and see for yourself.

Have you played them against each other ?
That would be interesting ...B-4 and F-5 are two very different moves

Rybka 3 default v Rybka 3 human is VERY close. I played a 60 game match
and the human setting won 30½-29½, but one has to believe that Vasik
Rajlich the programmer and his team did their own tests and concluded
that the default was slightly stronger, otherwise they wouldn't have
made it the default!

It was a pity Ivan didn't try 18...Nc4, to see if GetClub could find a
correct defence. But 20.h3 was a little passive and Ivan's 20...b5 a
good and aggressive reply, so the game is definitely interesting. We
need one of the programs to follow through an attack, they both seem to
get themselves into positions with an opportunity and then back off
nervously!

21...b4. Good move. Interestingly Rybka Human style chooses this, but
Rybka Normal just preferred f5. Rybka still evaluates GetClub as just
narrowly ahead, but the immediate attacking opportunities appear to be
with Ivan

Wow-- that is quite a time lag!

The move ...R-g7 was sent at 8:30 in the morning,
yet at 12:14 am it still had yet to reach Sanny's far

travel at the speed of light, we may conclude that

I suspect Sanny has the typical beginner's misapprehension that the
only way out of check is to move the king. He does not think of
interpositions, esepcially a dual-purpose move that both blocks the
check and defends the pawn.
I once looked in on a game between a couple of kids. One gave
check, which she announced was mate. Her opponent agreed, as did
several onlookers, all of them adults but inexperienced. I said, "That
is not mate." None of them believed me, until I played a simple
interposition, a two-square bishop move that blocked the check.
Perhaps Sanny was among those onlookers.

[GetClub now as Strong as Rybka]
Both moving queen aimlessly.
Another example of how Sanny contradicts himself from one sentence
to the next. Rybka tends to play with an almost human purposefulness,
combined with machine-like economy of effort. It does not make aimless
queen moves. Yet somehow Sanny wants us to belive that GetClub, which
here is doing little else but aimless queen moves, is as strong as
Rybka.

After playing the opening badly, Ivan has done well to get its house
in fairly good order, while GC, which earlier could have delivered a
knockout punch, hasn't a clue how to proceed. Objectively the current
position is still somewhat in White's favor, but the trend of the game
is slowly turning in Black's favor.
