So I dropped the coin to check these out and, so far, they are absolutely worth it. I didn't really get into F1 until the early 90's so there is a lot of history that I missed and the tidbits in these books are filling things in.

One of the most interesting bits I've learned so far is how much a single race win used to mean. Today we seem to focus on the season-long series and who will be the overall champion. Reading about some of the early racers, a single victory was a really big deal. There are a few stories about drivers who didn't even win a single race but are credited with a 2nd or 3rd place in addition to the fact behind the story.

And some of the stuff ties in well with the release of the archives on F1 TV. One of the "facts" is the story about Schumacher loaning a helmet to Couthard for the 1996 Monaco GP. I probably watched this one back then but being able to see it again is cool.

There is also a bit about the bizarre 1982 Monaco GP and that one is in the archive as well.

There were only a few races; winning or podiuming 'once' was a big deal.

Also the races were longer and driving the cars required more physical
effort (although the G-forces were not so great).
