Do the Robinsons encounter a big (as can swallow an adult human whole
without straining) snake? I vaguely remember reading a book (c. 1964)
that could have been a Winston title with such a snake on Venus.

I don't believe so.

As the first people to land on Venus and return if the Robinsons can't
think of a way to cash in on the resulting fame, they're idiots.

I wouldn't consider buying an E-book of this. Maybe one will see a paper copy at a
thrift shop somewhere someday.

Who is Roger, and, if a Robinson, that seems to be four
(Paul is the father); is there another Robinson, or
does dastardly engineer Simmons complete the
_Five Against Venus_? Perhaps the captain is Roger.
Navigator Jim Gregor is figuratively rogered before
planetfall.

One of Enid Blyton's "Famous Five" is a dog.
And George is a girl.

And George is a girl.
Let's hope she doesn't get in trouble before she's married.

...Asking here because it isn't really a comment on the
story or on points made in the review - but on what might
have been said. Also because I didn't want to say
"rogered" on your blog - in public.

Clarified: Roger is the kid brother whose main usefulness is that
he snags the mcguffin the bad guys were trying to steal, which
means it's with the Robinsons when the device's rescue team arrives.
Otherwise, I think it's possible the Robinsons would have been
abandoned.

Thank you. Now, are we still short of five? Is there
a dog? Or perhaps a parrot with a terrifying imitation
of the deceased captain?

To be honest, I think it should be six against Venus but I think
the title refers to Simmons because the other fellow dies getting
them down safely.
