Do the Robinsons encounter a big (as can swallow an adult human whole
without straining) snake? I vaguely remember reading a book (c. 1964)
that could have been a Winston title with such a snake on Venus.

he snags the mcguffin the bad guys were trying to steal, which
means it's with the Robinsons when the device's rescue team arrives.
Otherwise, I think it's possible the Robinsons would have been
abandoned.

To be honest, I think it should be six against Venus but I think
the title refers to Simmons because the other fellow dies getting
them down safely.
