We don't know how many it was under National - they were not in
government in March 2018. We do know that the defnitions have changed
- under National being in a motel was having a roof over your head -
they may have been still on a list for a state house, but National
would not have regarded the lady that was featured as being in need of
housing.

Labour have built state houses themselves, and have also though free
training courses, assisted a huge increase in the Labour forceneeded
to build houses, and in the last year there have been 45,000 housing
consents issued.

But whatever the reasons - and Covid, lack of builders, a poorly
functioning market for materials, lack of the chemicals needed to
treat timber (which we now learn are toxic with factories not
complying with the law to ensure tocic gases are not released into the
atmosphere!) - the results are very disappointing - but thankfully we
no longer have a government that sold off state houses . . . .
