President Obama:

You scare me because so many amazing corporate and American leaders,
such as Lou Pritchett, are saying you scare them.

You scare me because after you initiate more government borrowing and
bailouts than all presidents combined, you then require Congress to
follow a system that is "pay-as-you-go."

You scare me because you really do believe that going into massive
amounts of debt can remedy our economy in the long run.

You scare me because your actions don't reflect the federal governmental
constraints and fiscally prudent principles of our Founding Fathers and
Constitution.

You scare me because you repeatedly still play the blame game with the
Bush administration but never blame the Clinton administration, even
though it was responsible for the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac subprime
fiasco via the proliferation of loans to unqualified borrowers.

You scare me because you buy and run the banking, automobile and (soon)
health industries with taxpayers' money but refuse to call it socialism.

You scare me because you claim to be a fighter for minorities and the
promises of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness yet do not defend
the unborn. What greater minority is there than those in the womb,
against whom you already have enacted more pro-abortion laws than anyone
since the Roe v. Wade decision?

You scare me because you promise to defend the U.S. against all
potential enemies yet pacify those harboring terrorists, fight for the
rights of combative detainees, and enable the enemies of Israel.

You scare me because you deny America's Judeo-Christian heritage before
other countries of the world, espousing "the promise of a secular
nation" during an age in which religious revisionism is on the rise.
(Thank God for Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va., and others like him, who even
now are trying to preserve America's religious history by proposing the
passage of a bill that would create "America's Spiritual Heritage Week."
Call or write your representative today to support it.)

You scare me because your media team (including the mainstream media)
seeks to label as radical, quarantine socially or in some way penalize
any opposing conservative voices (such as conservative talk show hosts,
news agencies, columnists and actors, such as Jon Voight).

You scare me because your media team does not address or diminish in any
way your deification before the world, epitomized by the editor of
Newsweek who stated this past week on Chris Matthews' MSNBC show: "In a
way, Obama's standing above the country, above the world. He's sort of
God." (How much scarier can it get than representative statements like
that in a republic that once stood for a balance among political powers
and a government "by the people, for the people"?)

Sincerely,

Chuck Norris

America, it's time to awaken from your slumber. Quit looking to the
government for answers, and start looking to reputable sources. I
recommend starting with Lou Pritchett's 1995 business book, "Stop
Paddling & Start Rocking the Boat."

Most of the guys in the military - especially those in the sandbox

heroes and roll models (even cinnamon buns for rolls, as my marine

You want to have heroes, fine by me, I'm not trying to tell you how to live.
I don't understand why you choose a make-believe hero, though.

Personally I don't idolise, but if I were to do it, I'd choose someone who
actually accomplished something in the real world, like Gandhi or Mandela or
Aung San Su Kyi (not sure I remember that name correctly). You know - people
who stood up to injustice in a sensible way. Any idiot can pick up a weapon
and kill, and I'd hate to idolise an idiot.

<sigh> Really?

Because the "make believe hero" embodies characteristics we wish we
had. It doesn't mean we believe the hero is a real person.

Also because real life heroes, like Gandhi, or Jefferson, or JFK are
human and have feet of clay. There is always someone ready, willing
and able to piss in your fruit salad and try to ruin your positive
feelings for your hero by bringing up and magnifying your hero's
perceived flaws.

It's funny you used that phrase. I had just finished reading this
story: "Lottery idiocy"
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=101234

In it, he says "The lottery is a tax on the poor and on people who
can't do math. I'm not riding a moral high horse. Research shows that
people from lower income brackets, folks who can't afford to be
throwing their money away on some ridiculous game, spend four times as
much on lottery tickets as anyone else."

I recall studies that poorer folks use "convenience" stores much more
frequently, spend much more on "toys", such as expensive shoes, cell phones,
entertainment gadgets, etc.

Stats from the 1990 and 2000 Census (indicating not much shift) showed that the
bottom quintile, compared to the top quintile:

* Watch about 55 hours of TV each week compared to 6-8 hours.
* Read two books per year versus 20. (Frequently fiction vs. non-fiction).
* Have something like four times as many kids.
* Have those kids as early as teen years vs. late 20's.
* Have those kids out of wedlock twelve times more frequently.
* Have arrest records something like sixteen times higher.

Along the lines of that last one:

"It's been frequently said that the poor are frequently criminals because they
have no economic opportunities. This misses the point that they frequently have
no economic opportunities because they are criminals (i.e., criminal
mindset)." - Edward Stanfield, "The Unheavenly City".

Actually you're the one making up strawmen.

I make the statement that if I were to have heroes at all, they would be
non-violent people. Then you pretend that this means that I think that
people who kill are always murderers. Your interpretation has no base in my
statement.

around starting shit just to compensate for other shortcomings...
Misc "that's ok, I like him, anyway ;)"
Actuaally what6 I said was that
1 - I don't admire people
2 - If I were forced to choose someone to admire, I'd choose someone who
stood up for their human rights in a non-violent way.

I've killfiled Tony, but saw his overly intelligent reply in tour quote,

Strawman. This equates homicide with self-defense.
Should we stand up to NoKo with platitudes?
Actually you're the one making up strawmen.
I make the statement that if I were to have heroes at all, they would be
non-violent people. Then you pretend that this means that I think that
people who kill are always murderers. Your interpretation has no base in my
statement.
<oxford accent> I'm afraid your logic is somewhat faulty m'boy.
So your heroes are people who refuse to defend themselves?
If I could insert an emoticon here, it would be a  one.

As oppose to the kind that buys lottery tickets ? The tax on the math
impaired.
Lottery tickets are a bad investment.

However, they're a pretty good entertainment value, for those with just
a bit of imagination.

We think nothing (ok, "little." Ok, we bitch about it a lot, but do it,
anyway) of spending $10 each + $10 on popcorn to see a movie for 2 hrs
(total cost of a movie date: $30 or $15/hr), whereas a simple $1 lotto
purchase can give several hours, spread throughout the week, of "what
if..." entertainment.

A $7 paperback does a little better, but that's still $2-3/hr, depending
on how fast you read.

Lotto is a bad way to plan your retirement. But it's a decent
entertainment value and helps make retirement-planning a bit more
enjoyable.

I blow $2 a week on the lottery and I get to dream a little, fully
knowledgeable that I'm more likely to get struck by lightening in my
living room than hit the numbers. It's worth it.
On the extreme side, I see people in far worse shape than I lining up
with numbers in hand given to them by their brujo, or that came to them
in a dream, spending 10, 20 even 50 times that every week, with the same
odds I face.

The difference being that those who pay such bucks to see a movie are NOT in the
same economic class.

At least a (good) paperback can stimulate thinking and possibly give some

And, shit, I like the way it looks, too. There. I can admit it. ;-)

Along the same lines, I was shocked when my 2001 Maxima could out-accelerate,
outrun and out corner the two muscle cars I had in the late 60's and early 70's.

What's more, it got 24 MPH highway versus the 12-14 MPG those V-8 got. (Mustang

I'll admit the current version of NASCAR is only slightly more viewer
friendly than golf, tennis, soccer, televised poker (wtf were they
thinking) and baseball, but I still watch it. I grew up in a racing
family and hung around short tracks as a kid so I get it.

I had similar questions. There was a lot of mumbling and "I don't want

Lotto is a bad way to plan your retirement. But it's a decent
entertainment value and helps make retirement-planning a bit more
enjoyable.

Someone in another newsgroup suggested that Congress members ought to wear
overalls with the names of their big campaign contributors emblazoned on
patches the way that NASCAR drivers do. Personally, I think that would be a
GREAT idea.

Yup, All-American if memory serves.

The media just HAD to knock him for anything, just like Bush in more recent
times.

When he slipped coming off AF1, the stairs were wet due to rain, something
"conveniently" left out.

When he klunked a spectator at the golf tournement, the media conveniently
didn't mention that Gary Player also klunked someone during that same tourney.

You scare me because so many amazing corporate and American leaders,
such as Lou Pritchett, are saying you scare them.
Bruce Lee kicked Chuck Norris's ass.
Bruce Lee is dead.
And could STILL kick Chuck Norris's ass.

Lots of good cigar info, the ASC Birthday page, FAQs, vendors and more at
<http://www.ManyFriends.com/Cigars/>
A "great" review is one with the name of the cigar before the review text
in the body of the post. :)
