Hong Kong is to ban all flights from the UK to curb the spread of the
Delta variant of Covid.
The UK is to be classified as an "extremely high-risk" country, the
highest rating Hong Kong has for pandemic travel.
The ban will come into effect on 1 July and affect all incoming
passenger flights from Britain. […]

"Most likely" they are playing politics but using reasonably good
excuses is quite important. IMHO a few weeks of very selective ban
may be "somehow" justified as better safe than sorry.

IMHO Pretending to believe *initially* sometimes pays.
It "may" put you in significantly better position to criticise.

It's all about how long you can delay the Delta. If you aren't yet
highly vaccinated probably worth blocking the UK.

It is surprising no one seems to be guessing where UK daily infections
will peak. Whilst I am a fuckwit, I can stick a finger in the air as
well as any man... So I'm guessing UK will peak at about 300 infected
per 100,000 or 50,000 new infections a day. This will drop soon after
schools start summer holidays. Death stats maybe peak ~150 per day.

They don't do lockdown for flu, and hopefully not for Covid from now on.

The death count on Mondays has a distinct tendency to be low - something
to do with collation of stats over the weekend (because much bureaucracy
does not operate on Saturdays and Sundays).

It's back up to 23 today according to the Graun (there'll be a large
element of reporting catch-up in that). So an average of about 13 per
diem seems instinctively to be more like it.
