Gift from the high winds :( Tomorrow I'll have a go at removing it,
just too cold today.

What *is* that? Shredded plastic bags?

Lovely Christmas Eve, tree cut at sundown, up before dark. Came down
with the Cold Robbies on Christmas day, spent the day and the next
huddled miserably under a blanket. Except for dealing with the 48 hr
power outage.

Apparently a snake had used our gen set to scrape off a shed skin,
leaving part of the skin inside. That bit got sucked into the brushes
and sliprings, produced a huge cloud of smoke, crudded up the slip
rings. Hadda partially disassemble the generator in the cold, clean
the slip rings while hacking a croaking. All worked as expected after
doing that.

All well in the end and I'm feeling much better. Happy Solstice,
all. The days *are* getting longer!

Somebody suggested heavy plastic that is used to cover items on
palettes - I just know its a mess and I saw more at some apartments
near here

How unreasonable., but I can quite see why it would find it perfect
for the job! My younger daughter called me to say she had lost power
late Monday afternoon and could I look and see when she could expect
it back. Seems with her SO away she was unable to start the
generator. Her younger son came to the rescue and she does now know
how to start it. I told her I thought I should disown her!

That's about the only good thing at this stage of winter. If you
don't already know it, you might be interested in this

http://www.maeshowe.co.uk/ On the solstice the sun (if it's out)
will that only time shine into the chamber.

Hope you are continuing to improve.

Today has 8 hours, 51 minutes, and 32 seconds of daylight,
30 seconds more than yesterday! A fun fact that won't make the wind
chill budge from -15 to -25!
