Tuesday 26th - It is crunch time for Phoebe and Justin has yet more
tricks up his sleeve.

Yes, I wonderd whether he'd find a way to use Phoebe's presentation to
hold off the protesters about the housing development. Look, we're
planning to be very green. Go away. And then the board will bury the
actual plans in the basement of the town hall in a filing cabinet
behing a boiler and the housing will go through.

Wednesday 27th - Elizabeth puts her foot down and Lynda is keen to
maintain tradition.

Stupid Elizabeth tells Jim he has to let Russ be in charge of the
story-telling. Jim says well let Russ do it.
Lynda wants to help with Grundy's World of Christmas. Someone said a
female Santa but I don't think small children would like it so Lynda
refuses to do it.

loss last weekend of the family[1] dog. The boodly animal[2] is still
barking to be let out for a wee in the middle of the night but now he
is doing it in my dreams.

My sincere sympathies, Nick. We lost Molly over 3 years ago and for a
couple of years B saw her in his room now and then, and he says he
still hears her now and then. I sometimes went for walks we did
together and imagined she was with me, but never saw or heard her as
he did. I do know how big a thing it is when you lose a dog. xxx

after that!

Some of us get up often in the night to go anyway, even if we don't
have prostates. I hope the remaining radiotherapy goes well. Take it
easy. When I had it I found I was very tired from it. Get plenty of

a long time yet. Even Bingo’s arrival, eight months afterwards, didn’t
initially wipe out the loss of my lovely Bear. Now it does, two and a half
years on.

Interestingly (FSVO natch) since writing these comments I've started
receiving dog food adverts in my internet browsing. Given that I only
write to usenet via Thunderbird or Agent, something has cleverly
connected this Nick Odell with that one Google serves ads to.

Mind you, if the algorithm were that smart it would have realised that
dog food is the last thing I nbeed right now.

It's the not-so-subtle way an algorithm suggests that the best way to
get over the loss of a pet is to buy more pet food and then get a new
pet because you've got a huge pile of food that something needs to
eat. And the algorithm wouldn't want anyone to lose out on their daily
exercise.

Isn't it this "nudge theory" malarky that the gummint are supposed to
use to make us do things we don't want to do?

I hate algorithms. I’m convinced BA has one on its seat allocation program.
At one time, I used to be randomly allocated a seat until this algorithm
took over about five years ago . Previously, if offered an aisle seat, I
would take it but if offered middle or window seat I’d pay to swap to an
aisle. Now it knows that and only offers me middle seats at the back.
However , I have given up paying to change seats and it hasn’t leaned that.

That was a promising meeting but both were awkward and I think
uncertain so no coffee together. Kirsty was overdoing the urging, just
as Freddie did. He was much worse though. And the wish for Johnny to
confront Josh was out of order.

I do hope Helen and Lee get anotehr chance to meet, maybe at the
hospital. It sounded as if she offered coffee and he turned it down as
not sure she wanted to, or was it because he was hurt by the last time
together?

Last New Year they sort of agreed to meet at The Bull, but he arrived
after she left. I reckon that they will be there at the same time this year.
