...does South Florida have to upset Lousville and/or Miami in the next two
games?

Will Andre Hall be able to go through their defense like he did against UCF?
Is he one of the best RB in the nation?

What should we say now that the Bulls DID indeed upset the #9 ranked team in
the country? Can they beat Miami too? Can they win the BIG EAST and go to a
BCS Bowl?

That would be the Big East's worst nightmare...to have a team that wasn't
even playing football a decade ago representing it in a BCS bowl.

Bryan, don't you find it at all significant that yer boys went something
like 11-10 in the BE their last three years, then ran wild through the
ACC?

Do you really think that Randall and Co. suddenly got a _ton_ better over
one summer?

Not really. They would have gone unbeaten in the Big Least.

They didn't need to get a TON better.. but they did get a LOT better.

You keep bringing up this lame argument as some sort of slam on the ACC
and bolster of the Big East, but it simply doesn't hold water.

Well, he did; but that's what I expected.

See, after going 11-10 over three years (with 6 of the 10 wins against
Rutgers and Temple), VT would have magically become unbeatable, with the
exact same team as in the year before.

The fact that Miami and BC are also considered major powers in the NACC
is also somehow irrelevant.

In fact, every new team/s added to the ACC since its conception hashave
immediately dominated the conference, probably to the point where the
conference will probably be shared by the former BE members for the
foreseeable future.

This also has nothing to say about the respective status of the OBE and
OACC.

Wow, that'd be like a team going 20-1 in the BE, winning an MNC and
going to another MNC game in their last three years going 6-4 (so far)
in the ACC!

And Miami suddenly turned into a turd, right?

Tech is now playing football where it should have been for the last
half century. No longer being a Big East team in ACC country does
wonders.

I'll agree with you about where VT belongs, conference-wise. The point yer
missing is that VT is the _control_ in this here experiment, not the
subject.

The terrible irony here is that a great South Floriada win puts its
league into a mess. But the Bulls can't be blamed for that. That is
and for some time will be a fact of life in teh Big East.

The Big East has to do something mega-huge against the more established
BCS conferences. If that means Cincinnati eventually beating my beloved
Buckeyes, I'm sure Ohio State will muddle through somehow. Hey I've got
a better idea: WVU WINS THE BLACK DIAMOND AGAINST NO. 3 VA TECH !!!

There's a lot of griping that this is bad for the Big East to have
their Chosen One Louisville get b-tchslapped off the polls by a team
noone saw on the radar.

I would like to point out West Virginia is still up there and
undefeated and has the tradition and the talent to represent the Big
East well.

I would also like to point out that Syracuse still has a decent shot at
a bowl somewhere.

I would also like to point out in the other major conferences like the
Big 10 and the SEC that teams stomp on their fellow teams all the time
and there's still no complaints about how weak those conferences are.
If Florida slips against Vandy (which this year could actually happen!)
nooone is gonna shed tears for the SEC's perceived lack of quality
teams. So why should the Big East get labeled weak if South Florida
wins against a team they've beaten before?

I would also like to point out there's still 7-8 weeks to go. USF can
beat Miami. West Virginia can try for an undefeated season and face
Florida in the Big-Ass Money Bowl (C'mon Cal beat USC!). Louisville
can rebound and make a New Years Day Bowl somewhere and stomp on Notre
Dame for us.

Of course, go Gators! ;)
