Post by RaAdd a PRS Custom 22 to the pile.
I like how all the birds on the neck are different.
I've heard a lot of raves about PRS...
but I've never even seen one before.
I've been reading the 100+ reviews for this guitar, on Harmony Central.
Here is one that I enjoyed:

Sam Ash White Plains, New York
Features: 9
I brought my Paul Reed Smith Custom 22, brand new in a Sam Ash Music store in White Plains, New York. I paid the going rate for a
new Custom 22. The reason I brought it was because they had just brought it in new to the store and put it up high on the wall. That
means nobody played before I touched it, at least not too many people. Once too many folks touch a new guitar you can't calls it new
anymore. Do you see some of the shit they try to sell as new in these here music stores? Once some somebody with dirty hands or a
cigarette smoker touches the guitar the strings go dead, and I don't want it, no sir. Not for the money I'm spending. A dirty guitar
could change the whole experience. I want mine brand spankin' new. Let me read these here specs, 10 top, Dragon II treble and Bass
double coil pickups. Wide Fat Neck. Built 11/22/2000. I broughts it in December 2000. This guitar is the joint, I call it "Green"
because of its color. It has the non-tremolo tail piece setup. I didn't want the tremolo because once you remove too much wood you
lose the sound. The body and neck are Mahogany and the top is flaming maple. The rosewood fretboard has these beautiful flying birds
on it that change colors. The tuners are the locking type. The pickup switch has five positions. I got a hard shell case with it but
that don't matter none. I carries my guitar on my back without a case like Johnny Be Good. I would give this guitar a 10 but I have
to leave room in case there is better out there.
Sound: 9
I mostly play blues, jazz, rock and roll, and some greasy shit. The guitar pretty much covers all the bases. I've had Fenders,
Gibsons, you name it but the PRS pretty much beats them all. I play through, Marshall and Mesa Boogie tubes amps but most of the
time I'm playing thru my battery powered Marshall that I wear around my belt when I go around playing wherever. The best way to
describe the sound of this guitar is "hot ground beef" when I put it through some overdrive. It's so rich unlike any guitar I played
before. When I plays it clean it sparkles like crystal. The chords sound good no matter wear I play them on the neck and I got a
small hand. You see I was born with one normal hand and one very small hand like the size of a babies hand. The small hand is the
one I use on the wide fat neck. I can only bar two or three strings at the most but that don't stop me none, I'm dangerous on the
guitar. Anybody come up against me they lose cause they can't handles a guitar like me. They wanna battle for money, I end up
winning. Some of these fools even lose their guitars. The only guy who come close to beating me is a dude they call Beatlenut. He's
got red eyes cause he never sleep. He runs like a bat outta hell once I showed him I was boss. The thing I don't like about the
guitar is the tarnish on the bridge that come only after a couple of weeks of playing. I called PRS and brought a new bridge for
about a hundred dollars. I didn't install it cause all I needed was to get some chrome polish and work the chrome back to looking
new. So I have a new bridge as a spare. I thinks PRS should coats their bridges with better chrome. I don't understand why that
happen, cause I always plays with clean hands. For this I give it 9 instead of a 10.
Action, Fit, & Finish: 10
When I first got the guitar I didn't have to do any adjustments. It was setup just right. Everything was adjusted as it should be.
The pickups weren't to close. The paint job and the fit and finish make me give this guitar a ten. Not a single flaw on guitar, that's
why I brought it. I plays a guitar hard and to this day, one year later there is not a single scratch on the guitar; and I plays in
the street most of the time. Sometimes I busts a string and it still stays in tune. One time a fella cuts my strings behind my back
just so I would lose a guitar battle. Guess what; I wons anyway with just two strings, nobody can hang with me. Know what happen to
the guy who cut my strings? Well I bust his fuckin' teeth out his mouth. As I said I'm dangerous on the guitar.
Reliability/Durability: 9
Besides the fading on the bridge the guitar is reliable and built durable. I haves other guitars but I play the PRS mainly. The
strap buttons are solid but they could have a better shape to hold into the guitar better. I carries my guitar on my back and it
almost slipped a few times because of the buttons aren't shaped to hold the strap like they should. My cheap Ibanez bass has better
strap buttons
Customer Support: 9
They was very nice folks over the phone and they sent me the parts as they said. It took a little while but not too bad.
Overall Rating: 9
This guitar I give a 9 to leave room for something better. Each guitar I had I thought was the best at that time till I found
something better. For now "Green" is at the top of the heep. It is the best guitar I've played yet. It sounds and looks better then
anything out there too. What would I do if someone stoles it? Well let me tell you, someone all ready tried. I was walking and
someone tried to rip it off my back. In one move I grabs the guitar by the head and neck and swings it over my shoulder, turn around
and knocked this motherfucker dead upside his head with the back of the guitar. I then kicked his ass down a hill and watch him roll
into a train yard. While he was rolling and bouncing down the hill I plugged the guitar back into my belt amp and started playing
"Dueling Banjos". He layed by the train yard till the ambulance come pick him up a few hours later. Even after that "Green" still
don't have one single scratch on her. The guitar is built like a rock. If I losts it I would buy another one just like it, but I got
a feelin' me and "Green" gonna be friends a long time cause I'm dangerous on the guitar.
