First, I want to thank you once again because, without you, I would not
have a way of staying informed as to what is really going on in
Venezuela.
I left Venezuela 24 years ago because I could no longer stand the
corruption of the Adecos and Copeyanos, and I could no longer bear to
watch the rape of the Venezuelan people.
I am getting ready to return to Venezuela now, because at least with
Chavez (and a miracle from God) there is a chance that things might
change for the better. Keep up the good work...

Beatriz Socorro: To refresh the memory of those who have so quickly
forgotten

In order to refresh the memory of those Venezuelans who have so quickly
forgotten Venezuelan history of the past forty-four years, and who have
forgotten who have been the real origins of the evils that plague our
nation today: How convenient and irresponsible it is to blame Chavez
Frias for the damage that was done by the Adecos (Accion Democratica)
and the Copeyanos (Christian Socialists) during the four decades of
their government.
What we are living today ... and what we are reaping ... are the fruits
of what was sown by the governments that ruled during the post-Perez
Jimenez and the pre-Chavez era.
To repair the damage done by the Adeco/Copeyano governments Chavez is
not enough. If we want him to succeed in educating the nation and
restoring the economy, Chavez needs the help and the co-operation of
every responsible Venezuelan ... it would be absurd to expect him to do
it all by himself.
To repair the damage, Chavez needs the collective support of the
Venezuelan people and we also need a miracle from God and a new
generation. We need to EDUCATE an entirely new generation and we, the
people, need to support any and all resolutions that are in favor of
the collective good of the Venezuelan people and not just a privileged
few.
We cannot expect this process to happen overnight ... that is not
possible ... the damage done is of such magnitude that it will take
years to rebuild what the Adeco/Copeyano governments destroyed.
But, apparently, some Venezuelans want Chavez to repair the disaster
that was left behind by the Adeco/Copeyano governments in 2 ... or 4
... or 6 years ... while at the same time they block all his attempts
to solve the problems and benefit the nation.
The Adeco/Copeyano governments cannot accept that they can no longer
continue to "pocket" the wealth of the Venezuelan natural resources
(as they did during four decades) while they kept the vast majority of
the Venezuelan children living in cardboard shacks, half-naked, hungry
and begging on the streets and while they destroyed the economy and
progress of our nation.
Bolivar ... a country where the only education that a majority of the
children received was what they learned on the streets.
Now the Adeco/Copeyano governments want to put the blame on Chavez.
HOW CONVENIENT! QUE COMODO!

Venezuela ahoy! Sparks fly in the side wake of Katrina; dogs
overboard!

We were not expecting Katrina to come here and received only warnings
of tropical storms. Even at 5:00 a.m. NOAA was still saying that Monroe
County was not issuing any evacuation orders. No one knew it was
coming.
At 6 a.m., I went to the cockpit and saw that my anchors had broken
loose and my boat was heading straight for the power lines. Here at Big
Pine Key (North of Key West) the powerlines are in the water ... in the
picture, my sailboat is the second one.
I tried to get my dogs in the dinghy but there was no time.
I had to throw them overboard and hope they would be able to swim to
shore without drowning and then I jumped in too ... better chance
drowning than frying.
While I was swimming to shore I saw the mast hit the power lines and
saw the sparks ... two boats were completely lost ... two more boats
hit the powerlines after mine.
Fortunately, my dogs and I made it to shore safely and my boat
sustained minor damage. However, I lost my anchor light, radio antenna
and we still have to check the wiring, solar panel, battery etc.
I have not had the time to do so yet because we were helping out
getting supplies and help for the guys who lost their boats and all
their belongings. They were 'live-aboards.' The community here has been
wonderful and helped us all with food, clothing, shelter, etc.
Tow Boat US pulled all of us out of the mangroves at no charge but in
the process my outboard went under. Some friends flushed it out for me
and it's working now.
Thank God for good friends...
I read the article about the US warships heading towards Venezuela ...
I am heartsick. Even though I have known all along that this was going
to happen, I was hoping I would be home before it did...

NOTE FROM VIVA CHAVEZ: Notice that I left Venezuela 26 years ago....a
long time before Chavez.
I'll get to Venezuela WHEN God wills and the weather permits.
In the mean time I will battle the opposition by whatever means are
available to me.
My words are my sword...and my mission - wherever I may happen to be
during this trip - is to bring out the truth about what really happened
in Venezuela and take off the masks of the true culprits who now with
their deceptions, via the media, try to blame everything on Chavez.
I am posting this for the benefit of those who are now part of this
group and who are in favor of truth, justice and equality - and whom
the chanchitos are trying so desperately to deceive.
Fortunately, I am on my way to Venezuela, via Cuba and Central America
:) as opposed to those who only have hangovers to wake up to.
Viva la Unión Lationamericana!
PS TO THE CHANCHITOS: besides, wherever I am or whatever I do is really
none of your business. :)
