She Loves Bossa Nova

She loves Bossa Nova
rare steaks
rain sticks
Sinatra.
And red red wine.

She's real
and sometimes sparks
with spoken words
spoken loud.
Just like the
Statue of Liberty.
Standing tall and proud
Along the long way
long way around.

Brown sugar baby
backyard blues
Maybe it was intimidation
quiet infatuation.
I was coming down home
fell down, down, down
into silver blazing dawn.

On the long way
overheard on the sidewalk
she said "I love you."
somehow I did not understand.
Overheard on the street
out on the sidewalk
taking the long way
long way around.

I didn't know
she was crying.
I didn't think
it'd be that way
didn't think
she would get so serious.
The guitar played
C, D...

She likes city lights
she could name all the Saints.
And the darkness
she said it made her so lonely.

She loves Bossa Nova
rare steaks
rain sticks
Sinatra.
And red red wine.
On the long way
long way around.

I like that, and though it isn't the same at all, it brings to mind Robert Johnson (and later, Led Zeppelin) and his "Travelling Riverside Blues":

"I'm going to Rosedale,
gonna take my rider by my side.
Lord, I'm going to Rosedale,
gonna take my rider by my side.
We can still barrelhouse baby,
on the riverside.

Now you can squeeze my lemon
until the juice run down my...
until the juice runs down my leg, baby,
you know what I'm talking about.

You can squeeze my lemon
until the juice run down my leg
That's what I'm talking about, now.
But I'm going back to Friar's Point,
if I be rocking to my head."

-Robert Johnson

Sinatra.
And red red wine.
She's real
and sometimes sparks
with spoken words
spoken loud.
Just like the
Statue of Liberty.
Standing tall and proud
Along the long way
long way around.
Brown sugar baby
backyard blues
Maybe it was intimidation
quiet infatuation.
I was coming down home
fell down, down, down
into silver blazing dawn.
On the long way
overheard on the sidewalk
she said "I love you."
somehow I did not understand.
Overheard on the street
out on the sidewalk
taking the long way
long way around.
I didn't know
she was crying.
I didn't think
it'd be that way
didn't think
she would get so serious.
The guitar played
C, D...
She likes city lights
she could name all the Saints.
And the darkness
she said it made her so lonely.

Lord, I'm going to Rosedale,

until the juice runs down my leg, baby,
you know what I'm talking about.
You can squeeze my lemon

I would agree with that. I like Perry Como and Nat King Cole. Pat Boone is in the same class as Celine, pretty voice but dopey music.

Pat Boone is best known for his string of Top 40 pop rock hits, but he's sung quite a few of the standards as well.

If you get a chance, give a listen to some of the tracks on his "Pat Boone Sings Irving Berlin" album:

Along the long way
long way around.
Brown sugar baby
backyard blues
Maybe it was intimidation
quiet infatuation.
I was coming down home
fell down, down, down
into silver blazing dawn.
On the long way
overheard on the sidewalk
she said "I love you."
somehow I did not understand.
Overheard on the street
out on the sidewalk
taking the long way
long way around.
I didn't know
she was crying.
I didn't think
it'd be that way
didn't think
she would get so serious.
The guitar played
C, D...
She likes city lights
she could name all the Saints.
And the darkness
she said it made her so lonely.
She loves Bossa Nova
rare steaks
rain sticks
Sinatra.
And red red wine.
On the long way
long way around.
-Will Dockery
ob mined doggerel
Papa love Mama
Mama love mango
Yellow juice drippin' down her arm
Lickin' her elbow is the charm
Mama, she pretty tawny skin
Papa, he got a sticky chin
Of interest....

A favorite, Doc....
Did she get her copy of your book yet...?
I haven't heard from her in a few days, I know that George Dance did ship her a copy, which I assume was delivered without problems.
:)
Maybe she got a copy of your "book", started reading it and then died of boredom.
Yes, I saw her yesterday and she did receive the book, kudos to George Dance:

Using the Jack Kerouac method:

"I want to be considered a jazz poet, blowing a long blues in an afternoon jam session on Sunday. I take 242 choruses; my ideas vary and sometimes roll from chorus to chorus or from halfway through a chorus to halfway into the next." -Jack Kerouac

I don't have to read to know of the person, Dreckery. Just as I don't have to read any of your "poems" or listen to your "songs" to know that all of it sucks.

long way around.
I didn't know
she was crying.
I didn't think
it'd be that way
didn't think
she would get so serious.
The guitar played
C, D...
She likes city lights
she could name all the Saints.
And the darkness
she said it made her so lonely.
She loves Bossa Nova
rare steaks
rain sticks
Sinatra.
And red red wine.
On the long way
long way around.

Dockery you are as far from Kerouac as Canada is from Australia. Your narcissism and ego is just...just amazing.
Sure, Kerouac and I have different, unique, points of view.
;)
Yea. He's talented

I doubt you've even read Kerouac, Dink... Pendragon hasn't.

I don't have to read to know of the person
You know /what/ about Jack Kerouac, then, just "hearing about him", Dink?

She's real

Just like the

Standing tall and proud

Brown sugar baby
backyard blues
Maybe it was intimidation
quiet infatuation.
I was coming down home
fell down, down, down
into silver blazing dawn.
On the long way
overheard on the sidewalk
she said "I love you."
somehow I did not understand.
Overheard on the street

She Loves Bossa Nova
She loves Bossa Nova
rare steaks
rain sticks
Sinatra.
And red red wine.
She's real
and sometimes sparks
with spoken words
spoken loud.
Just like the
Statue of Liberty.
Standing tall and proud
Along the long way
long way around.
Brown sugar baby
backyard blues
Maybe it was intimidation
quiet infatuation.
I was coming down home
fell down, down, down
into silver blazing dawn.
On the long way
overheard on the sidewalk
she said "I love you."
somehow I did not understand.
Overheard on the street
out on the sidewalk
taking the long way
long way around.
I didn't know
she was crying.
I didn't think
it'd be that way
didn't think
she would get so serious.
The guitar played
C, D...
She likes city lights
she could name all the Saints.
And the darkness
she said it made her so lonely.
She loves Bossa Nova
rare steaks
rain sticks
Sinatra.
And red red wine.
On the long way
long way around.

Dockery you are as far from Kerouac as Canada is from Australia. Your narcissism and ego is just...just amazing.
Sure, Kerouac and I have different, unique, points of view.
Yea. He's talented

Dreckery nobody can "sniff behind you" due to the smells of failure, cheap alcohol and cigarette butts. Except Zod-Rocky, who seems to have developed an immunity to it somehow.

Good parody, after seeing the original.... Perry Como is not quite as bad as Pat Boone....
I would agree with that. I like Perry Como and Nat King Cole. Pat Boone is in the same class as Celine, pretty voice but dopey music.
Pat Boone went "Folk Rock" for one album back around 1969, and that stuff I'm liking, such as "Never Going Back (To Nashville Anymore)" which he sang on The Beverly Hillbillies, a silly moment, but I like it:

Pendragon, you probably have some back story on Pat Boone from this era, which would probably be of interest..?

Not really. Pretty much everybody did a folk album.

Artists like to stretch their boundaries/demonstrate their versatility.

Along the long way
long way around.
Brown sugar baby
backyard blues
Maybe it was intimidation
quiet infatuation.
I was coming down home
fell down, down, down
into silver blazing dawn.
On the long way
overheard on the sidewalk
she said "I love you."
somehow I did not understand.
Overheard on the street
out on the sidewalk
taking the long way
long way around.
I didn't know
she was crying.
I didn't think
it'd be that way
didn't think
she would get so serious.
The guitar played
C, D...
She likes city lights
she could name all the Saints.
And the darkness
she said it made her so lonely.
She loves Bossa Nova
rare steaks
rain sticks
Sinatra.
And red red wine.
On the long way
long way around.

Yellow juice drippin' down her arm
Lickin' her elbow is the charm
Mama, she pretty tawny skin
Papa, he got a sticky chin
Good parody, after seeing the original.... Perry Como is not quite as bad as Pat Boone....
I would agree with that. I like Perry Como and Nat King Cole. Pat Boone is in the same class as Celine, pretty voice but dopey music.

Pendragon, you probably have some back story on Pat Boone from this era, which would probably be of interest..?
Not really. Pretty much everybody did a folk album.
Artists like to stretch their boundaries/demonstrate their versatility.
I find it to be his most listenable music.

Since Vincent van Gogh was only 37 when he died, I suppose so.
Why can't you follow his example?

Dreckery you can't really be this clueless. Even Frump has his days of lucidity.

Good parody, after seeing the original... Perry Como is not quite as bad as Pat Boone....
I would agree with that. I like Perry Como and Nat King Cole. Pat Boone is in the same class as Celine, pretty voice but dopey music.
Pat Boone is best known for his string of Top 40 pop rock hits, but he's sung quite a few of the standards as well.

Hmmm, I'll look into that. I do like the "American Song Book."
Again, if you must listen to Pat Boone, he went "Folk Rock" for one album back around 1969, and that stuff I'm liking, such as "Never Going Back (To Nashville Anymore)" which he sang on The Beverly Hillbillies, a silly moment, but I like it:
