Better than last week. At least there were more actors involved.
But it's more of the same sentimentalist PC loony idiocy that has dogged
this series from the start.
So they travel back to a multi-racial London at the time of the frost
fairs but the sole representative of the aristocracy turns out to be a
racist. PC lunacy at work here trying to rewrite history. The
aristocracy weren't the racists. An aristocrat would not a assume a
black person was a slave and in fact many of them fathered mixed race
children. They would assume the person was free based on their dress and
demeanor. The racists were and always have been the common working class
people who resented immigrants taking their jobs.
There's a monster living in the Thames under the ice and lord
what's-his-name decides to take advantage of it to make rocket fuel by
feeding it children. Why doesn't he feed it fish or livestock? Typical
PC loony sentimentalist stupidity.
Why does he need rocket fuel for if he's not an alien? Not explained.
Are there any aliens? No idea. The Doctor doesn't care. Where did the
giant sea monster come from and is it an alien? Not explained and the
Doctor doesn't care.
Finally the lord decides to blow something up. No idea what or why.
Never explained. The monster is set free by the Doctor tampering with
the explosives--never shown what he actually did--and it decides to eat
up the lord and leave London for Greenland.
Where was the plot? Everything of any importance such as how the
monster's shit was found to be rocket fuel happens in the past of off
screen.
At the end Nardole is seen talking to whatever is in the vault which has
absolutely nothing to do with the subject of the episode and exemplifies
totally amateurish story arc development.
Idiotic clueless PC loony writing by people who don't have a clue about
science fiction throwing ingredients into the pot but not knowing how to
prepare, blend or cook them properly.
PC loony sentimentalist crap at its worst. Rather than tacking issues or
ideas as part of a plot using logical argument they are white washed by
PC loony brainwashing. There's nothing wring with killing people if
you're a solider and protecting your home. Killing people is wrong if
it's to take something away form them you can't get though legal means.
Civilization isn't based on compassion. It's based on doing what is best
for the city or state as a whole not individuals.
8/10 for entertainment value
2/10 for writing ability
