Review
I was afraid that this episode would just be an "American Idle"plug, but it worked great on its own. Fantasia Barrino's singing was
great and she served her place in the plot (in other words, she
wasn't given unnecessary and awkward lines just to hear her speak).
Lisa and Homer were completely in character. The divide between the
two was compelling and heart warming. Neither of them was mad just for
the sake of being mad to drive the plot - You could tell that they
wanted to make up, just like a real father and daughter would. "A
Star is Torn" is "Lisa the Beauty Queen" meets "Bart Star,"
and it turns out to be a worthy combination. Grade: B+
Where is Springfield?
Close enough to Syracuse University for recent graduates to kissHomer's ass.
