I'm wondering is that a verb, to poodle? Or have you got a canine
visitor in your bubble?

I'm puzzled by the question, as I can't see the word in any of the text
quoted! There's a beagle in Min's address ...

To half-answer the computer: I think I have seen it as a verb, meaning
something like amble/wander, or metaphorical equivalent: "just poodling
about, not doing anything in particular".

Ah, that wasn't in what Vicky quoted, hence my puzzlement. (Unless it
was and I missed it, despite checking at least two or three times. Which
has happened more than once before!)

It was below the hyphen hyphen space, and so was correctly stripped away
when Vicky quoted Min.

The poodle's name is Ken. His owners are Portuguese, so they have left
Ken with me for Christmas. They'll be back tomorrow. He has been a
very welcome boarder with us when Nuno and Maria are away, for a
couple of years. He's a little darling.

I'm very happy to see a parody of Celia, Celia by Adrian Mitchell.
Always made me smile, that one, ever since I first heard him recite it
around 50 years ago.
