Will it put Germany in good light? NO.
Will it help Germany take "high moral ground"? NO.
on the agenda from the beginning. But, as it has happened, it puts namely
Poland in not quite good light, - because Germany was living with the idea
that the WW2-related questions of the sort had been already closed. However,
the Polish demand emerged as a smartass response to the EU's criticism of
Poland with regard to the refugees and the PiS' violations of the supposed
EU values.
Such a precedent means, if someone agrees about something with Poland, and
then Poland suddenly dislikes some new circumstances, then one can likely
expect that Poland would invent some issues or resurrect some settled ones.
Poland was a troublemaker before the WW2 (maybe N2 troublemaker after the
Nazis), and it becomes a troublemaker in similar way today too. Perhaps it
reflects the fact that the Poles actually had quite a limited experience of
managing the Polish independent state. It manifests itself in the narrow
nationalist ideology, inaccurate bold demands and whinings.
But such a Polish behavior is not isolated, it rather reflects the spirit
of the time. Quite recently, the EU itself undermined some principles and
violated agreements once achieved in the Europe-related affairs. The bold
'western' interference in the Ukraine's internal politics, the EU's brazen
refusal to take into account Russia's economic concerns with regard to the
EU-Ukraine 'association' was an obvious violation of the Helsinki Accords,
which led to etc etc .. After which the Euros together with their overseas
overlord also perverted the text / meaning of the Minsk-2 accord, and it's
in fact undermining the Donbas peace process.
It manifests a general degradation of the European politics. In this
context, the Polish situational revisionism is natural, just expressed in
a more primitive / less camouflaged form. Europe and the EU is actually
an untrustworthy community of hypocrisies, - the current situation simply
confirms this undisputable fact one more time. Besides that the Euromorons,
including Germany, tolerated and even encouraged the Polish whorish alarms
about upcoming Russian invasion in Poland, in this way they themselves
encouraged the insane Polish cult of victimhood and the Polish commitment
to irresponsible behavior, so now Germany faces the demand to pay.
Here one may find it appropriate to recall the fact that Poland received
quite a generous aid from the EU, before and after joining the EU, and its
amount seems to be comparable to the Polish reparations demand. But,
regardless of how much just or unjust the recent Polish demand is, all the
said above remains relevant: the reparation question was not on the agenda
from the beginning, but emerged as an 'asymmetric' response because of the
Polish current discomfort due to the refugees and domestic 'democracy'.
It helps to estimate realistic expectations/goals.
