Regardless of individual merit, the grants listed come to about 0.2% of this year's total arts budget.

The list is a long way short of complete.
But the point is that some of the grants (if indeed grant is the correct word)
appear to be rather silly.

Only to be expected when countries are run by people. Some might even drily observe that if only 0.2% of any New Zealand government's total behaviour were silly we'd all have something to be more than grateful for.

And in the spirit of another thread, we are happy that you feel you
are able to state such a silly unsupported opinion - after all, as you
have pointed out often, you are entitled to express anything you like
- and I am sure you will agree that supporting your right to do that

I can agree that my right to express an opinion far supersedes your right to
criticise my opinions, with no evidence of your own, by a country mile.
But this government did not give me any rights that I did not previously have.

Silly or not is in the eyes of individuals - but spending $18 million
on a flag referendum when a majority of New Zealanders surveryed early
on said they didn't want any change was worse than silly

It is easy for many people to relate to small numbers, but to not
really see that much bigger numbers can be proprtionately more
important. Some would see the larger waste as being more Facsinating,

No of course not. Certainly not "proprtionately (sic)". You are a

Why do you pick on typos by other people and yet make more typing

Was Shane Jones invoved in CreativeNZ?

This was Covid19 response funding; it has now stopped; it kept a lot
of people busy and invovled and spending money; the amount being
objected to was very small.

Was the money provided under covid response provisions to The Taxpayer
Union a similar waste opf money?

Yes, I am querying whether the statement "Shane Jones at his worst" is
correct. I suspect these decisions had nothing to do with Jones.

This was Covid19 response funding; it has now stopped; it kept a lot
of people busy and invovled and spending money; the amount being
objected to was very small.
Does not affect the argument at all.
It goes to the purpose of the spending. This was a sector that was
significantly affected by Covid - live performances and sales of art
objects would have stopped; the money would have been intended to give
the ability to continue in the industry through a difficult period
while also providing spending that assisted businesses - supporting
business through continued domestic activity is one of the reasons we
have come through the highewr Covid levels in such a good economic
position; the government supported bot the arts and business . . .

You get sillier with every post.
What was silly about the query? I note yu have not attempted to answer

Read mark learn and inwardly digest lest you overlook the
opportunity to
get
some cash for an important contribution to society or just to have fun
with.
Regardless of individual merit, the grants listed come to about 0.2%
of this
year's total arts budget.
The list is a long way short of complete.
But the point is that some of the grants (if indeed grant is the correct
word)
appear to be rather silly.
Silly or not is in the eyes of individuals - but spending $18 million
on a flag referendum when a majority of New Zealanders surveryed early
on said they didn't want any change was worse than silly
Irrelevant off topic drivel as usual.
So you want to defend the cost of $18 million do you? Give it your
best shot, Tony . . . .
Are you serious? Have you been at the sherry or suffering from
dementia?
It is easy for many people to relate to small numbers, but to not
really see that much bigger numbers can be proprtionately more
important. Some would see the larger waste as being more Facsinating,
do you agree?
No of course not. Certainly not "proprtionately (sic)". You are a
childish piece if garbage and we all know it, especially you.
Why do you pick on typos by other people and yet make more typing
mistakes than all of the other users in nzgenera put togetherl?
The OP made a valid point and you dismissed it with a change of topic
and rudeness. Obviously some of the grants were a waste of my money,
Shane Jones at his worst.
You add nothing but shame to this ng. You at your worst.
Was Shane Jones invoved in CreativeNZ?
Do you ever stick to a subject?

Nothing off topic at all - the payments to the Taxpayer union were
part of the Covid payments that were intended to widley distribute
money to be used to keep businesses going and workers in employment -
it turns out to have been a very good strategy, with the wide
distribution assisting in ensuring all parts of the country
benefitted. Doubtless that success will be reflected in the results of
the election.

Only in your biased opinion Rich. Small businesses have got nothing from the government and the handouts the Taxpayers Union listed aren't helping small businesses but individuals with wacky ideas that'll never come to fruition! In other words a total waste of taxpayer funds for more feel good stupidity for fucking imbeciles like you and Ardern!

That's the best reason I can think of as to why the government should
not be involved in "arts" at all.

Add on the financial assistance given to the Taxpayers "Union" itself
