Make this a role call and I bet some of the wheel-chair shriners will
wake up and yell 'bingo'. :-)

Mistakenly executed for an inadvertent top-post.

I see Nick Amoroso on Facebook, Bermuda occasionally pops in to the
Mike Dolbear forum, but there used to be a real hardcore of about
thirty or forty posters here.

OK, roll call it is.

I usually check here every day to see if anything's been posted. Most attempts
to generate discussion (mine included) don't go anywhere, in spite of the fact
that a dozen or more of the old guard still pop in here every once in a while.
Everybody go over to Facebook and tell the rest of them to get their asses
back in here. :-)

I do miss the on-topic discussions we used to have here. I'll even dare to
say that it made me a better (and more in demand) player.

I just resubscribed after a while away to see if there were any topical
posts (that weren't brass band vacancy ads) since I left. There aren't.
Bah.

I'm checking in for the first time in months! I had heard some rumors
about Rob Schuh and wanted to see if anyone had an update on Rob's
health. I'm back in Nashville, still playing w Poco and still running
Not So Modern Drummer. My news is the Nashville Drum Show in September
and the new digital Not So Modern Drummer, a free email version. Sign
up for that at notsomoderndrummer.com. Would love to hear from any of
the old guard. ***@notsomoderndrummer.com

Thought I'd throw this thread on into October (2012) with my
confession of still popping in now and again. I, too, have gained some
great insight from this site through the years.

Just got back on usenet after my provider shut it off. Seems pretty
much dead. Such a shame. I remember starting posting on here after
Eternal September and had no idea at the time I was in the midst of
professors and students communicating around the world on percussion
topics. Too bad they were all chased away by trolls, I am not innocent
there.

We have formed a private group on facebook, anyone interested let me
know and we can get you in. Most of the regular posters are there along
with George Lawrence, JMT, Mell Ciscilla, Ronn Dunnett, Mike Radcliffe,
Bill Ray and others.

Nope just hiss in the band here. (ham radio term)

Glad to hear some of the old bunch is still together, Petey.

I sort of wonder what they are up to these days. George closed his store,
some time ago, right?

Most of usenet is pretty dead since the big (mostly successful) push to
get providers to turn it off. Sorry I don't do facebook. What is needed
is for someone to provide a home for forum software like talkbass uses
that is going great guns. I'm not a big fan of censored groups, but
moderators at Talkbass are pretty mild (hey *I* haven't been banned for
life yet...I think Schuh was though).

Your name came up recently after DW released their concrete drums. I
hope you are well!

Not too much new. News of note, Nick A had back surgery and is
recovering, Dave N isn't with Tritt's live band anymore, jmt's wife
died unexpectedly a while back.
Personally, dad passed 18 months ago; been teaching drums pretty
regularly with mostly success in the student's goals, of course they do
the work, I just bark at them; been in and out of about 8 bands for
various reasons in the past 5 years, right now doing some fill in work
and looking for a decent project.

Had one recently that was a little different. Right before xmas I was
on my way home from mom's, and almost home, got a text that said
someone needed a drummer so I called. Went straight to the gig, a new
place downtown in 'The Banks' which is right next to the Red's park,
called The Tin Roof. I got there and quickly set up and then we played
for almost 4 hours straight with one short p break. The singer never
did stop. I think my hands are still tight from that one… I had played
another cold sit in the night before. At least they called that
morning. :-)

That's the SMO for gigs on Lower Broad, in Nashville, Pete.
There are guys who'll do "doubles" like that every night they can get it.
8 hrs of playing crappy country songs... not for me, but you can take
home upwards of $250 for the night. Not bad for a starving musician.

CONCRETE DRUMS! I didn't know those came out! RMMP needs credit! :-)

I don't play drums (hand drums or kit) since heart trouble came to stay.
It's no huge problem doing most things, but I find drumming, dancing etc.
just too physical. So these days I'm playing bass except for noodling the
drums in the basement. I'm looking for a new house where I can set it all
up in a studio and hold jams etc. Last drumming I did was in a blues band
we were forming but I had to quit because it was too physical for me
although these days I seem to be getting much stronger than I was then.
Maybe I need ease back into drumming again. The new place would help.

Personally, my mom passed a few years ago and left me the family house.
You'd think that was a reward, but I've been cleaning on it for three
years now and it's still not sold. Clearly it was her plan to punish me
for not visiting enough! And there's nothing like TWO houses for a major
money sinkhole!

So every now and then I check in here just for old time's sake and see
what's happening. Great to hear from you again!
