name and called her Elsie. She was not amused.

I've been on a few cruises and at night while in the dancing bars there is

song played that always gets 99% of the people up to dance. I get blown
away
how people are effected when they hear this song. It has a mesmerizing
effect.

And that song is: Sweet Home Alabama.

Terry Stafford. I don't listen to much else by Strait, although I
don't turn the radio off when he comes on. I don't know that it puts
me in a good mood and I don't know that I want a song to do that.

How about Murphys Red, Guiness Stout and Draught, Killians, All sorts
of local microbrews, Lowenbrau? Unfortunately these are more
expensive then the cheap beers. I would prefer these beers anyday,
but when i drink beer it is because I am sick of liquor and when i can
buy a fifth of Bacardi for 12.00 and have it last 3 or 4 'sessions' of
drinking and I get sick of it and want beer I look at the better beers
and see 20.00 for a good 12 pack and that will only last me 1 drinking
'session' and I see Miller lite right there and 14.00 for a case that
will last 3 drinking sessions I look at the Miller lite and figure
after about 7 I am not going to care if its killians or Miller Lite
anyway so why bother.

Maybe one (not won) day i will be able to drop 20-30 on beer and not
care, but unfortunately right now I cannot do that. I am a beer guy,
but beer is expensive.

Newcastle and Pauli Girl are very good as well IMO, but they are also
expensive.

I generally drink Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, which, IMO, is a perfect beer.
I can generally get a 12 pack for about 12 bucks here, which is acceptable
for me. I have a ton of saved Belgian beers (I mean, like, 100 cases or
more of different beers) so I drink those when I want something special.
Yeah, I've spent a lot of money on beer in the past. I think I have some
Westvleteren 12's that are over 10 years old now.

70's I had older siblings graduating high school around that time, so I heard
alot of stuff that I liked as a kid but really learned to appreciate as I grew
older. 

Have to agree with pickel that he was one hell of a storyteller.  "Corey's
Coming" still brings a smile to my face when I hear the opening tune.  For some
reason I got into the habit of singing the song to myself when running during my
high school football days.

I was on Cross Country in high school, and to this day, when I run,
Tennessee Jed plays in my head. No matter what.

Straits.

There's a station here in Reno that plays Mark Knopfler solo stuff.
Any of that pumps me up.

I can take or leave that one, even though I'll happily listen to most
anything by Paul Simon. I always grin when I hear that song, though.

I read somewhere that Simon and McCartney had an unspoken songwriting
rivalry some years ago. Apparently, McCartney was determined to write
a song as good as "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (I believe I read it in
John Lennon's Playboy interview just before he was killed) and came up
with (I think it was this one)"Hey Jude". Anyway, the reason "Mother
and Child Reunion" makes me smile is because of Simon's line, "...I
know they say let it be, but it just don't work out that way." I've
always taken that as a jab at McCartney.
