It’s not rocket science. When America leaves -- bad guys do bad things:

All the more reason to totally destroy a place, then leave. Quit wasting our
time trying to be liberators when people don’t want to be liberated.
I think the intellectual State Department folks felt that negotiations with
the Taliban (from 2019-2020)were leading to a quiet period.
Presently, I would take a guess that more than one-third of the country is
considering leaving and some massive exodus will occur between now and the
beginning of 2022, with waves of "migrants" pouring across the border into
the nearest "-stan."
Next “nightmare scenario” due to our incompetent administration:
Nuclear-armed Iran, but the Israelis will undoubtedly take care of that.
Don't wait for the last helicopter to leave. Goodbye, Saigon!
