Hey all,

I have been searching on Amazon for what I am looking for but can’t seem to find it and not even sure if it exists, but figured I would ask away here. I like having my single ear Plantronics ear piece in to talk on the headphone but find it is useless trying to use it to listen to voiceover when in a noisy atmosphere. I have a pair or wired buds but one of the buds fell off so using it and its great noise canceling feature is now down to just one ear. I am curious if anyone has a pair of wireless ear buds either in the ear or over the ear which has the noise canceling feature so you can hear VoiceOver well when in a crowded place and you can choose to either use one of the ear buds or two. For example when I walk and listening to Blind Square I like to have one ear plugged in and when I cross the street I just pull it out. Anyone have anything like this? If so, please tell me the make and model. Thanks,

I have the LG HBS730 Bluetooth earphones. I got them from amazon for
somewhere around $64.95, I think. They come with a charger that is a
standard micro usb plug. The battery recharges pretty fast and you get
around ten hours of use on a single charge. This model also has TTS to
tell you the level of the battery charge and whether the earphones are
connected to your phone when you turn them on.

I use this headset for the same thing you do when walking and
listening to blind square and it works well for me.

I hope this helps.

Oh, and one more point, there is a newer model (the hbs800) but the
reviews seemed to indicate that the sound quality was superior with
the 730, so that is the model I went with.

They are in-the-ear earbuds. But rather than hanging on the ears, they
are attached to aa band that goes around your neck at collar level,
let's say. It's very light weight and easy to forget you even have it
around your neck.

Yes, in fact that is one of the things I love about this headset. The
earbuds attach to the band by thin wires so if they come out of your
ears they won't go far. This is critical when out walking in my
opinion. Also the band that hangs around your neck has little magnets
at the ends where the earbuds can attach when not in your ears.

I have these too, and Kimber is right. These are awesome, and you tend to forget sometimes you have them in. You can use one ear and depending on what I’m doing, I tend to use one ear while I’m on the phone or doing something that I need to listen for. But, their highs and lows are nice, and nothing distorts but yet they’re light weight and easy to use. I can get almost a ten hour battery life out of them if I play my cards right. Anyway, hope this helps your decision. Take care and talk to you soon.

Thanks guys going to explore these some more as it does sound like what I am looking for. Appreciate the feedback.

Post by Brian Fischler
Thanks for the additional info, one last thing is it easy to just have one
of the buds in and tuck the other in the collar of your shirt? Thanks again
for all the info

They are in-the-ear earbuds. But rather than hanging on the ears, they
are attached to aa band that goes around your neck at collar level,
let's say. It's very light weight and easy to forget you even have it
around your neck.

Hey Kimber,
Thanks so much for the info, but just wanted to make sure are these ear buds
where they clip over the ear or go in the ear, or are they a pair of
headphones? Thanks will check them out.

Hey all,
I have been searching on Amazon for what I am looking for but can't
seem
to
find it and not even sure if it exists, but figured I would ask away here. I
like having my single ear Plantronics ear piece in to talk on the headphone
but find it is useless trying to use it to listen to voiceover when in a
noisy atmosphere. I have a pair or wired buds but one of the buds fell off
so using it and its great noise canceling feature is now down to just one
ear. I am curious if anyone has a pair of wireless ear buds either in the
ear or over the ear which has the noise canceling feature so you can hear
VoiceOver well when in a crowded place and you can choose to either
use
one
of the ear buds or two. For example when I walk and listening to Blind
Square I like to have one ear plugged in and when I cross the street I just
pull it out. Anyone have anything like this? If so, please tell me the make
and model. Thanks,

Kimber and Tim,

I've been considering a bluetooth headset for a while but have not yet taken
the plunge. I have a couple of additional questions about the LG Hbs-730
Tone+ and I hope I'm not being redundant from prior posts:

1. How does the sound quality really compare with the Apple earpods when
listening to a decent-quality music track? I've heard that bluetooth just
can't touch wired earpods but am curious how you think music sounds with
these.
2. Does this unit have a remote button that will let you do things such as
rewind and fast forward when listening to audiobooks with BARD Mobile or
Voice Dream or when playing music tracks? Does it have volume buttons?
3. Is this headset a2dp compatible? I think I'm calling that the right
thing. My understanding is that this compatibility means that it works with
VoiceOver and can handle all the phone functions.

Thanks for your comments.

Hi Alan,
Post by Alan Lemly
1. How does the sound quality really compare with the Apple earpods when
listening to a decent-quality music track? I've heard that bluetooth just
can't touch wired earpods but am curious how you think music sounds with
these.
While it's true that wired earbuds do give better sound, at least in
my opinion, the hbs730 are pretty good for the price and considering
they are wireless. I still use wired earphones for "serious"
listening, but for convenience the hbs730 are good.
Post by Alan Lemly
2. Does this unit have a remote button that will let you do things such as
rewind and fast forward when listening to audiobooks with BARD Mobile or
Voice Dream or when playing music tracks? Does it have volume buttons?
I'm not sure what you mean by a remote button. There are rewind and
fast forward buttons on the neckband. There are also volume buttons,
an on/off switch and two smaller buttons to answer calls and play and
pause media. The layout and button sizes are quite friendly and easy
to locate and operate even while walking or working out.
Post by Alan Lemly
3. Is this headset a2dp compatible? I think I'm calling that the right
thing. My understanding is that this compatibility means that it works with
VoiceOver and can handle all the phone functions.
I am able to place and answer calls with the hbs730. The only thing I
have not been able to do is mute the mic during a call. I'm not sure
why since the user guide says I should be able to do this.

Also, if you google lg hbs730 user guide, you will be able to read a
pdf of the user guide on the internet. Having that additional info
might help you make your buying decision, which is why I mention it.

I hope this helps.

I have the 750 headset and from what I gather the sound quality is in better there. Yes, you can’t get any better than wired sound, but these come pretty dadgum close. I’m impressed daily and with the ten hour battery life I can pull out of these on most days, it’s definitely a plus. I love this headset and would recommend them to anybody looking for good bluetooth. Take care and talk to you guys soon.

rewind and fast forward when listening to audiobooks with BARD Mobile or
Voice Dream or when playing music tracks? Does it have volume buttons?
I'm not sure what you mean by a remote button. There are rewind and
fast forward buttons on the neckband. There are also volume buttons,
an on/off switch and two smaller buttons to answer calls and play and
pause media. The layout and button sizes are quite friendly and easy
to locate and operate even while walking or working out.

Can someone discuss the ear tip on this device. I could not tell anything
from the reviews I've read.

Does it go into the ear canal, thus blocking outside sound? That seems to be
a selling feature for a lot of devices, but is definitely a negative for me.

Thanks!

Eric

Hi guys, first to answer Kimber’s question, I haven’t tried to mute a call but will do that today and see what the results are with that. As far as Eric’s question about the buds, they do go in the ear, but they are small enough you can adjust them so they do not block sound out totally. For such small buds, they still pack a huge sound and you can move around without a problem. i am totally blind and use them constantly around the house, around work and while shelving braille, and they do well. When I’m riding paratransit I stick just one in my ear so I can keep an eye on surroundings as the case may be but that’s my own personal thing. But, they do well even for those kinds of buds. i hope that helps. Take care.

I am able to place and answer calls with the hbs730. The only thing I
have not been able to do is mute the mic during a call. I'm not sure
why since the user guide says I should be able to do this.
Also, if you google lg hbs730 user guide, you will be able to read a

might help you make your buying decision, which is why I mention it.
I hope this helps.

Hi guys, first to answer Kimber’s question, I haven’t tried to mute a call
but will do that today and see what the results are with that. As far as
Eric’s question about the buds, they do go in the ear, but they are small
enough you can adjust them so they do not block sound out totally. For such
small buds, they still pack a huge sound and you can move around without a
problem. i am totally blind and use them constantly around the house, around
work and while shelving braille, and they do well. When I’m riding
paratransit I stick just one in my ear so I can keep an eye on surroundings
as the case may be but that’s my own personal thing. But, they do well even
for those kinds of buds. i hope that helps. Take care.

Does it go into the ear canal, thus blocking outside sound? That seems to be
a selling feature for a lot of devices, but is definitely a negative for me.
Thanks!

There is a wire that holds them on the neck band, but the rubber tip makes just enough slight pressure to stay pu in your ear. Ive not had problems losing them and if they fall out of your ear they’re still around your neck. Hope that helps.
Post by Lois Butterfield
Hi Tim,
How do these stay in your ear? Is there a loop to keep them stable? I have trouble with the ones that are supposed to sit in your ear canal if they don't have something that stabilizes the ear bud.
Thanks,

Take care.

Can someone discuss the ear tip on this device. I could not tell anything
from the reviews I've read.
Does it go into the ear canal, thus blocking outside sound? That seems to be
a selling feature for a lot of devices, but is definitely a negative for me.
Thanks!

Tim,
Have you been able to successfully mute the mic during a call? That is
the one thing I have not been able to do with the 730's.

No, I've had no problem with them being incompatible.

I have the 750 headset and from what I gather the sound quality is in
better there. Yes, you can't get any better than wired sound, but these
come pretty dadgum close. I'm impressed daily and with the ten hour
battery life I can pull out of these on most days, it's definitely a
plus.

I love this headset and would recommend them to anybody looking for good
bluetooth. Take care and talk to you guys soon.

There's also a later model out the 750 that works. That's the one I have now.

Hi Alan,
Post by Alan Lemly

2. Does this unit have a remote button that will let you do things

rewind and fast forward when listening to audiobooks with BARD Mobile or
Voice Dream or when playing music tracks?

Kimber,

This was very helpful and thanks so much. I was able to find a user guide
although the LG site itself was not helpful for this. Their site seems to
have a bad case of the too many controls with pop-ups to be very usable.
