Hi everyone,
Two questions regarding shapesheets;

1) Seems like Visio should update the data in the shapesheet as the selected objects change. Right now I have to indvidially select each shape and then right-click to show its sheet (seems like a lot of uncessary clicking). Is this by design or am I missing something?

2) Is it possible to select multiple objects and update like properties at one time? For example,

I think what Harry means is that the shapesheet window should display
the shapesheet of the current selected shape. Selecting a different
shape should then show the data for that shape. This is exactly what
happens for the Size & Position window.

The ShapeSheet is a developer window - not for users, and I, for one, do not
want the ShapeSheet to change when I select a different shape. I often have
multiple SHapeSheet windows open during development.

Hi Harry,

Both are good suggestions. We've lagged behind in our Shapesheet Window
investments recently, but if there are some small things like these that
would reduce clicks or frustration let us know.

Hi Mark,
First off, apologies for not responding sooner...
And yes, Paul's clarification is correct; I for one would like to see the
shapesheet reflect the values from the selected shape (instead of manually
having to right-click select Show ShapeSheet). Others have stated they
prefer the current method so perhaps an option allowing the user to choose
which method he/she prefers.

Also, it would be nice to have the ability to select multiple shapes and,
when possible, update like-fields in their ShapeSheets simultaneously. For
example, if 20 shapes exist in a diagram the ability to select all and
change properties related to a common field within the Custom Properties
section would be easier, and, albeit, more dangerous..., than using the
Custom Property Sets.

Thanks,
Harry

Don't forget if your wish are to update the custom properties of several
shape in one operation that you can use the custom properties docked window
("Display=>Customproperties window").

If you select several shape and type in this windows the value for one
custom propery all the shapes are modified in one operation.

Hope it can help.

The custom properties window only sets the value for the first shape I
select and not the additional shapes in my selection. Am I missing
something?
