Post by GordonPost by Rich80105Further good news regarding Auckland going to Level 1 from Wednesay.
Going hard and going early (and yes that was earlier than Samoa) has
proved effective. The recent cases show that the virus can be
spread by something as small as a lift button or contact with a
rubbish bin; our precautions at the border are said by those who
have expereinced those and those of other countries to beexemplary.
We have been well served by our health advisers and decision makers.
Forget about going hard and going early, sounds like a brothel you are
talking about.
What we are being let down by is this idea that we are so good at
this that we can push the limits a bit harder. Lockdown at
Christmas.
We are going to get further 'waves' of this epidemic.
That is entirely possible, but I note that you state it as a fact.
Easy to do, many of the "shoulda coulda woulda" bunch of nay-sayers
are just trying to be disruptive. Evven the announcement yesterday was
followed by "ïndependent scientists" - one saying we should have come
down earlier, the other saying we should have retained mask
requirements all over the country.
Post by GeorgeEvery year just like the flu.
I haven't seen evidence that the virus is or will be seasonal,
although our experience with other viruses suggests that may turn out
to be the case, at least to some extent. We do not know what vaccines
may be developed. So we must take actions based on best advice now,
and thankfully our government is not taking epidemiology advice from
political opponents like John Bowes . . .
Post by GeorgeIs Cindy or (hopefully) her replacement going to shut the country down
at a sneeze ??????
Since there were undoubtedly people in New Zealand sneezing yesterday,
and today, and will be tomorrow, clearly Jacinda Ardern and the
current cabinet will not shut the country down at a sneeze; nor would
I expect Judith Collins to do so in the unlikely event that she is
elected Prime Minister. You may like to reflect on the extent to which
the lack of respect implicit in National Party encouragement of
childish name calling has turned off swing voters from that party, and
why they are losing votes to ACT. Seymour may have nutty policies, but
he is unfailingly polite and respectful - National appear to be still
stuck in "dirty politics" at a range of levels.
