Further good news regarding Auckland going to Level 1 from Wednesay.
Going hard and going early (and yes that was earlier than Samoa) has
proved effective. The recent cases show that the virus can be spread
by something as small as a lift button or contact with a rubbish bin;
our precautions at the border are said by those who have expereinced
those and those of other countries to beexemplary. We have been well
served by our health advisers and decision makers.

Hard and early? That's like saying you never lie Rich! We went Soft and two weeks later than Ardern's advisers wanted!

Correct we've been well served by the advisers but the decision makers have been fucking around the whole time. New Zealand is where it is because of good luck NOT good management by Winston's bunch of incompetents!

Rubbish - what evidence do you have for that silly statement? Yes
there have been all sorts of people calling for changes to be quicker,
or for us to open the border - sometimes by National Party people on
the same day! There have been a number of "scientists"who have
wanted different decisions made - one (Michael Baker) interviewed
today wanted "1.5"for Auckland to keep masks on buses. The government
has been fairly consistent on going with recommendations from the
Department of Health, who as well as doing their own research are
listeining to a lot of other experts around the world.

What evidene do you have that Wonston was invovled in any decisions,
or if made by Cabinet that he disagreed with any of the decisions?

No Rich. Neither is it like Ardern's lies about State houses and going hard and early! Bloomfield was pushing for lockdown for two weeks till Ardern spoke to friends in the UK. On top of that I guess your convenient memory has forgotten the changes that kept being made to our so called closed border in the early days!

nothing silly about ti at all. Once again your lack of comprehension leaves you looking like the bloody imbecile you are Rich. Didn't you watch the daily propaganda show during level 4 or are you just to bloody stupid to remember them?

sure you will step out of it with Covid-19 in you.

There must ahve been a lot of lift journeys without an infected person
then, but what evidence do you have for that percentage?

What we are being let down by is this idea that we are so good at this that
we can push the limits a bit harder. Lockdown at Christmas.

Our system of tracking and control of borders is better than it was at
the start of the last lockdown when the Auckland cluster hit. I
expect further changes will be made - new systems of testing are
becoming available . . .

That is entirely possible, but I note that you state it as a fact.
Easy to do, many of the "shoulda coulda woulda" bunch of nay-sayers
are just trying to be disruptive. Evven the announcement yesterday was
followed by "ïndependent scientists" - one saying we should have come
down earlier, the other saying we should have retained mask
requirements all over the country.

I haven't seen evidence that the virus is or will be seasonal,
although our experience with other viruses suggests that may turn out
to be the case, at least to some extent. We do not know what vaccines
may be developed. So we must take actions based on best advice now,
and thankfully our government is not taking epidemiology advice from
political opponents like John Bowes . . .

Since there were undoubtedly people in New Zealand sneezing yesterday,
and today, and will be tomorrow, clearly Jacinda Ardern and the
current cabinet will not shut the country down at a sneeze; nor would
I expect Judith Collins to do so in the unlikely event that she is
elected Prime Minister. You may like to reflect on the extent to which
the lack of respect implicit in National Party encouragement of
childish name calling has turned off swing voters from that party, and
why they are losing votes to ACT. Seymour may have nutty policies, but
he is unfailingly polite and respectful - National appear to be still
stuck in "dirty politics" at a range of levels.

Possibly more so. I doubt if Collins would have waited till she'd talked to friends in the UK to put us in lock down and wouldn't piss around for several weeks/months after it before tests were made on those manning the quarantine hotels. Unlike Cindy, Judith IS capable of making a decision without blindly following instructions from Greenpeace and Imans!

Where did you get that idea from, Mutley? Testing will be based on
people presenting with syptoms that _may_ be related to covid, but
obviously that will depend on how many of those there are (and it may
be lower with warmer weather), but it will jump if there is any
confirmed community case. The number of tests has not been affected by
any policy change.
