I am very unhappy about the increasing of oil and other materials that have
cost the living standard in Singapore.
I hereby wish to inform you that you have just lost one vote on the next

If it is a walkover, then what you say doesn't mean anything.

You should say I don't want to own a car. So that I don't have to pay COE,
transfer fees, petrol, parking, road tax, ERP and all other parking summons
etc.

LOL

In the next election, the whole of Singapore will come under one
constituency. Where to get so much oppositions. No need to vote. Just a walk

Hello ardeedee, when would you setup an opposition party like Mr Chiam
and Mr Chee? You have the talent for that. Maybe one day you will come
out with plans to satisfy everyone in the country. This is not at least
a word of flattering but from whatever you have said...a good one.
Never mind if you do not accept the sentence....:-)

Singapore Government controls the price of oil? You think? LOL!
While the pap multi$million ministers don't control the
international price of oil, they DO control the price of
oil like petrol in Singapore. Why ? More than 60% of the
price of petrol is Singapore Government Tax.
If they genuinely care about the welfare of the people they
would have reduce this Government petroleum tax to
make petrol more affordable. Just look at Malaysia,
a litre of petrol is only about 60 Malaysian cents which
is about 30 Singapore cents on S$1 = MR2.

I don't know. Best to check with people in the trade.
Are petrol sold to ships bunkering here subjected to the
petroleum tax ? Base on competitive reasoning I don't think
they can imposed the tax as it will only drive these ships
to get the diesel from Malaysia or some other ports.
When international competitions are involved, your price must
be very competitive to get the business.

For sure they can suck the hell out of Singaporeans
and there will be little these poor souls can do about it.
For the rich they can afford it. For the middle income
(if they still exist in Singapore) they will have to shift down
their quality of life, for the poor the easiest is to jump.
Of course for the smart, jump ship.

to get the diesel from Malaysia or some other ports.
When international competitions are involved, your price must
be very competitive to get the business.

Just look at Malaysia,
a litre of petrol is only about 60 Malaysian cents
Correction my fren, its about RM1.40 for a standard unleaded petrol/per litre...
which
Post by truth
is about 30 Singapore cents on S$1 = MR2.

I very much doubt so. Ships and planes don't cause congestion on local roads.

With COE and ERPs, the government is supposed to relax on other so call
"control" measure, but the ARF, Road Tax, Petrol Tax are not really
lowered.

They to pay the country's oil price which means including the taxes - that
is why Dubai is such a popular destination to take in fuel at competitive
prices. Singapore can also become competitive if they treat such oil costs
as export price.

The Sg. gov made big money from sales of petrol and diesel in Singapore.

First, there's the diesel and petrol tax,
Second, don't forget GST 5%,
Third, there's also property tax on land for petrol kiosk,
Forth, land sale revenue when oil companies buy land to develop petrol
kiosk, land title deed is only 30 yrs.

No wonder petrol price is so high here.

Just out of curiosity, if anyone can answer this. The tax for petrol is already 60% of the pump price. Is there an
additional 5% GST attached to it?

It is MR1.40 per litre.
Subsidized means collect less tax.
Singapore can do the same.

I am very unhappy about the increasing of oil and other materials that have
cost the living standard in Singapore.
I hereby wish to inform you that you have just lost one vote on the next
election.
You are unhappy just because the increasing of oil and other materials
that have cost the living standard in Singapore.

So your vote can be bought if the PAP government reduce the cost or
upgrade your flat or pay for you your HDB and PUB charges ?

High oil price is good for the sg government because they get money from
petrol and diesel tax.

Higher oil price = higher petrol tax revenue.

The UK government is also reaping huge amount money from their petrol and
diesel tax due to record high oil price and Gordon Brown is distributing
these money back to UK 20 % lower income household.
