Got a name & a cite (defined as a credible news source, not NewsMax or
AlFranken style) for this one, cowboy? Didn't think so.

: A retired w4 here. Ok - now I'm confused. An NCO used to taking care of
: troops is thinking of voting for Bush? This can't be. Tell me it ain't
: so.
Not thinking about it, going to do it, for the second time. You think I'd
waste my precious vote on some little rich boy who sucks Ted Kennedy's
behind and wants to take my money away from and give it to people who won't
do for themselves? Not in this lifetime.
:
: You know what is AWOL and what DFR is and what desertion is and how it
: is applied to those without connections.
You apparently don't though as it appears you may be trying to insinuate
something about the current POTUS.
: You probably also know how
: different the guard was during the Vietnam conflict and today. It was the
: refuge of the brats of the privileged.
Yeah, sorta like the 45-day tour, two scratches, and a bloody nose and back
home to Massachusetts to turn his back on his fellow soldiers wonder boy you
apparently idolize?
:
: What do you think of those wounded troops kept in substandard WWII
: barracks at Ft. Stewart for months without proper medical care?
I think it's deplorable that the tax dollars the Democrats stole from the
military for their welfare programs caused it.
:
: What do you think of Bush's changes to the medical benefits of retired
: vets?
I have Tri-Care Prime and the VA and no problems with either of them.
:
: What do you think of a war started without the proper planning, troop
: levels, and combat gear supplies.
Everything about the war was fine in my opinion, it was, and is, the
post-war effort that is the problem. I'm not convinced more troops is/was
the answer nor am I a tactician so I can't tell you what
woulda/coulda/shoulda been done like so many retired star officers seem to
be doing these days.
:
: What do you think of the slashing of the VA budget, closing of VA
: Hospitals, trying to reduce combat pay while guys were still being
: killed, cutting funding for the already crappy base housing?
I have very fine VA care where I am located, plenty of doctors, little or no
waiting for appointments so I don't see your point as I have not been a
so-called "victim" of the cuts. The government has to tighten its belt
someplace, and from what I've seen, the VA was overdue for a clean-up.
Nobody tried to "reduce" combat pay, it was temporarily inflated. Perhaps
you missed that news. Hostile Fire Pay and Family Separation Allowance were
given a temporary increase by the Congress with a set expiration date when
those entitlements would return to their previous levels. They are STILL at
a temporarily inflated rate but are included in next years' budget to be
increased permanently. You ever hear about Hardship Duty Pay - Tour and
Additional Incentive Pay, Chiefy? They amount to an additional $1000.00 per
month (tax free) for those who spends any portion of a month over 12 months
in the theater of operations. Sounds like an increase to me. How about
some of the special reenlistment incentives created for those folks? You
should read Army Times once in a while apparently.
:
: Come on guy, Bush isn't pro vet, pro soldier, he's pro wealthy and
: nothing more.
So the current POTUS is on equal footing with Kerry, I mean, except for the
hair.
:
: Did you know that he brought that 'ranch' in 1999 and that it has only
: one cow and it's a pet?
I spent 21 years in the Army, retired, moved to Wisconsin and bought a
60-acre tree farm, and I didn't even own a good chainsaw, so what?
:
: The guys a phoney. He's what Texan's call 'All hat and no cattle'.
Pot, kettle, black in your case.
:
: What do you think of the administration trying to stick all the blame for
: the prison crappola on a few low level enlisted guys? That has to make
: you angry. You of all people know those kids were not responsible for an
: entire prison.
I'll tell you what, Chief, I worked at an Army prison camp (US Army
Retraining Brigade, Fort Riley) for my first three and half years of
service. Many of my friends were MOS 95C (corrections specialists) and I
know what the "low level enlisted guys" are capable of doing all on their
own to make life miserable for their prisoners when they are Americans and
fellow soldiers who have gone wrong, so it does not surprise me one bit that
there is a good possibility that those lower enlisted folks were doing what
has been claimed on their own volition, particularly with their "leaders".
I mean, from BG DamageControl Karpinski, to the relieved brigade CSM, and
every one in between, their internal leadership failed them And by the way,
those warrants out at Fort Carson charged with murdering the Iraqi general -
friends of yours?
