Post by Atlatl AxolotlProtestants apparently don't know about the New Testament.
You know, all that stuff about Jesus and so on. Somebody probably
should tell them, don't you think?
"The protest_ants are big into the kjv and they know very little about the bible.
Most of them don't even know of the NT and it's final word from God."

.> >Nostalgia pop quiz, recovering Protestants: how many remember Bible drills -- "Draw swords" ?
.> I'm a Roman Catholic. Never heard of that one.
I'm sure you haven't. It's a drill which trains Protestant children
in knowing their Bible, inside and out.
.> >.> It doesn't. Most protest_ants think the OT is THE bible.
..> >No, Lyin' Earl, we did not. And they do not. You don't have
.> That coming from a SB is laughable.
That coming from someone who attended hundreds of Protestant
church services and knew hundreds of other Protestants is nothing
more or less than the truth.
Then why did you leave/escape the Catholic Church?
Post by Atlatl AxolotlWhat you, in your utter ignorance are making up isn't merely
laughable, it's pernicious lying.
Now here's what Jesus had to say. Did your protest_er friends do these?

Post by Atlatl Axolotl.> What does "draw swords" imply? Hint - OT.
Hint: read your Bible some time.
If it's spiritual, it's Catholic.
If it's physical, it's protest_ant.
Post by Atlatl Axolotl"Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God,
that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day,
and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with
truth, and having on the breastplate of
righteousness;
And your feet shod with the preparation of the
gospel of peace;
Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye
shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the
wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the word of God"
And take "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God".
Hint: that comes from Ephesians 6.
Hint: Ephesians is in the New Testament.
Hint: that's where that Bible drill takes its name.
As Paul takes leave of his people he thinks of the greatness of the struggle
which lies before them. Undoubtedly life was much more terrifying for the
ancient people than it is for us today. They believed implicitly in evil
spirits, who filled the air and were determined to work men harm. The words
which Paul uses, powers, authorities, world-rulers, are all names for different
classes of these evil spirits. To him the whole universe was a battleground. The
Christian had not only to contend with the attacks of men; he had to contend
with the attacks of spiritual forces which were fighting against God. We may not
take Paul's actual language literally; but our experience will tell us that
there is an active power of evil in the world. Robert Louis Stevenson once said:
"You know the Caledonian Railway Station in Edinburgh? One cold, east windy
morning, I met Satan there." We do not know what actually befell Stevenson but
we recognize the experience; we have all felt the force of that evil influence
which seeks to make us sin
Hmmmmm. Evil spirits, eh.
Post by Atlatl AxolotlHint: you look like a total buffoon when you just pull claims
like that out of your ass.
You didn't even have the decency to reference the "drill" previously.
Post by Atlatl AxolotlI did. You know one (1) guy. I knew hundreds, and attended hundreds of services
You don't have clue number one.
Fight that OT battle - get your swords out and fight, fight, fight.
Post by Atlatl AxolotlPost by dukeWe have 4 Masses on Christmas Eve/Day. He asked me how many we had to attend.
Just 1, I said. Then I inquired what his SB Church had. Nothing, he responded.
His pastor goes on vacation on Christmas.
.> SB minister, mind you.
.> Is this your case too?
He was of your faith. Doesn't sound like the birth of the Lord is very
important day to you protest_ants.
Post by Atlatl AxolotlSince I already told you that Christmas and Easter were our
biggest services of the year, and that we had to schedule
extra services, this is simply another one of your lies.
I told you local experience. Both Southern Baptist. All of you guys do get to
decide for yourselves what the daily brief is about, ie, about as wild and out
of control as one can get.
Post by Atlatl AxolotlPost by dukePost by Atlatl Axolotl.> >Since Catholics aren't encouraged to actually read the thing --
.> >and boy, does that ever show in your case -- then this comes as no surprise
.> Oh, but we are. At Mass daily, we get sections form the OT, Psalms, Epistles
.> and, most important, the four Gospels. There's some variation to the 1st 3.
Did I say you don't get selected passages read at you?
I did not.
.> And the point is that we get a regular exposure to the important parts of the
.> OT, Psalms, Gospels and Epistles where they tie into one another. You SB stick
.> to the "draw swords" OT.
Our Bible studies were drawn from the entirety of the Bible.
So you lie yet again.
You mean like "drawing swords", a VERY OT concept.
Post by Atlatl Axolotl.> >What I did say is that you are not encouraged to read it for

.> >Protestants tend not to go in for authoritarian mindsets.

.> with Jesus Christ to pull it all together.
Yep -- you believe what you're told to believe.
We take ours directly from the original source.
And you and yours preach what you wish to .
Post by Atlatl AxolotlPost by dukeDraw swords. Heeheehee.
Yep. The swords in question being "the Spirit, which is the Word of God".
Go ahead. Laugh at the Spirit all you want. Not my problem.
Why did you leave/avoid the CC?

I'm not going to go through your cut and paste bolus item by item.
You want to discuss specifics, you pick one and say -- in your own words --
what it means.
Cut and paste??? It's the very teachings of Jesus Christ himself in the
Gospels.
Post by Atlatl AxolotlFor example, we could discuss whether you yourself visit prisoners.
No one has to do all. I'm very active in the ones I do. I have friends that
visit the prisons as part of their discipleship. Where each feels he best fits.
So what do you do??
Wow, no answer. My first guess is that of ............. NOTHING.
