That was so thoroughly enjoyable.

Full of twists and turns and at its heart a thoughtful weaving
of time. Here Memory was used as another kind of time travel.
Escapades which really was about time and space, other worlds
it was all there.

Great to see an episode of this quality. And the payoff at the
end held a point about humanity. Really great stuff people keep
it up.

For once the score was understated, appropriate. The CGi was
impressive, but was centered on telling the story. Great sets
great designs for DW. A really great use of 40 minutes.

It was actually the first good episode of the current season. Not too
much soap and some excellent use of time travel and memories as plot
devices.

Next week's episode looks positively terrible, though...

I thought he did act fairly well. It's Jenna Coleman who irritates me!

There needs to be a throwaway Malcolm Tucker line somewhere in this
season, though :-)

It would be much better if there was a throw away Malcolm Tucker
"actor" in this season (so far - "Listen" is on tonight here). :-(

As I was reaching for the remote control after ten minutes, I heard
somebody saying "It's wiping his mind." I wish my mind could be wiped
of those ten wasted minutes.

I think the first appearance of a man dressed as a turd with eyestalks
may be looked back on like the first appearance of the Myrka: the
point at which Doctor Who's cancellation became inevitable.

I certainly hope so. Enough is enough. Put DW out of its misery now.

If you only watched 10 minutes they you will have missed a lot.
The apparent holes in the first 10 minutes were explained in the
last 10 minutes and it all made for interesting and very thoughtful
twist. As for the long term story arch i have a feeling this may
hinge on the doc's recovering memory.

I'll have missed about 35 very similar minutes, judging by your review.

You didn't say: "In the eleventh minute the Doctor wakes up from his
tedious dream, a new cast, designer, composer, director and special
effects team are appointed, and a proper story starts."

The problem wasn't plot holes. The problem was sets, actors, music,
effects, costumes, and the worst directing I can remember in New Who.

My second attempt to watch the episode lasted 37 minutes, during

"Time Heist" makes "Timelash" and "Time and the Rani" look watchable.

How could anybody with a three-digit IQ watch such garbage all the way

Before the solar storm degraded the bsnk's defenses, how was it that two members of the Doctor's team could teleport from the bank to the escape ship? Shouldn't the bank's security systems suppress teleports?

Time and the Rani had rewrite troubles too, because they pissed off a wrongfully dismissed actor.
Not to excuse the abuse of incidental muzak, bad ones too, like #5's Sea Deamon episode.
Timelash, meddled with the Zygon Lochness explaination, guessing another directive to promote british history.
Not sure what this was, maybe a call back to anti-masonry of the 7th in attempt to cuddle up to the classical sorts.

Why didn't the bank's security systems block the use of teleports by two of the Doctor's crew?

Why didn't the solar storm disable the getaway ship?

Why didn't the future version of the bank President commission the Doctor to rescue the bank customers?

In what is basically a children's show and Sci Fi at that you are never
going to cover all the possibilities. I enjoyed this episode for what
it was ... a jolly good romp. Of course there were holes in it. If the
Doctor could get those suitcases into the bank so easily why did the
team have to start at the front door.

The twists and turns were at least superficially consistent and that is
probably the most we can hope for. It wasn't a Shakespeare play ... it
was a popular episode of a Sci Fi show that is aired on a Saturday night
and so must have maximal appeal for the audience it caters to.

And for what it is I like it. I think a lot of thought goes into the
screenplays. And I think that is the first time the doctor has ever
robbed a bank so there is a certain originality to the show.

I think to some degree Dr Who has a similar appeal as the Simpsons. The
shows are different every week, have a very broad appeal and very strong
scripts and a longevity that breaks records.

Like most American shows, The Simpsons has been dragged on way past
it's use by date. It's not helped by the fact it's on a near continuous
loop of reruns here in New Zealand.

Unlike Gun Smoke. Less episodes a year and huge time breaks. It wasn't 50 seasons.
Broad and morbid curiosity to some degree. I will rewatch the classics, not these.
The tardis is designed to cheeply now on the outside and inside not even those big doors, the merged the actual time space event with the interior.

¡
¡In what is basically a children's show and Sci Fi at that you are never
¡going to cover all the possibilities. I enjoyed this episode for what
¡it was ... a jolly good romp. Of course there were holes in it. If the
¡Doctor could get those suitcases into the bank so easily why did the
¡team have to start at the front door.
¡
¡The twists and turns were at least superficially consistent and that is
¡probably the most we can hope for. It wasn't a Shakespeare play ... it
¡was a popular episode of a Sci Fi show that is aired on a Saturday night
¡and so must have maximal appeal for the audience it caters to.
¡
¡And for what it is I like it. I think a lot of thought goes into the
¡screenplays. And I think that is the first time the doctor has ever
¡robbed a bank so there is a certain originality to the show.
¡
¡I think to some degree Dr Who has a similar appeal as the Simpsons. The
¡shows are different every week, have a very broad appeal and very strong
¡scripts and a longevity that breaks records.

Why (before the solar flare disabled them) didn't the bank's security systems block the use of teleports by two of the Doctor's crew? Why didn't the solar storm disable the getaway ship?

That was so thoroughly enjoyable.
Full of twists and turns and at its heart a thoughtful weaving
of time. Here Memory was used as another kind of time travel.
Escapades which really was about time and space, other worlds
it was all there.
Great to see an episode of this quality. And the payoff at the
end held a point about humanity. Really great stuff people keep
it up.
For once the score was understated, appropriate. The CGi was
impressive, but was centered on telling the story. Great sets
great designs for DW. A really great use of 40 minutes.
Why didn't the astronomers in the bank's solar system anticipate solar flares large enough to destroy the bank?

Australia would when all their internet connection was owned by one
private person.
I might do the same thing for the UK!
First you would need to try this again in some other language other than
gibberish.

Secondly you can't afford to leave home never mind buying companies.

He thinks that cables are "gigiabytes". He doesn't realise they carry data at certain speeds. And he still thinks dial up is the way forward.

A "thriving" ISP where 71% of his clients links are broken. Some
business model.

Maybe less time playing EmpireKred and more time on business would be in
order.

Please apply to be Borin Johnson's spin doctor; you have the qualities.
Just as soon as you tell me how I can get hold of Borin.
Please apply to be the queen's Court jester; you have the qualities.
SW, 10 Downing Street awaits your application.
No, idiot, that's where *Boris Johnson* (currently) lives. Stephen
wanted an address for *Borin Johnson* , the guy *YOU* told him to contact!!
As I was saying to SW and his application to 10 Downing Street.
Yes, you, idiot, were saying that was where *Borin Johnson* lived!!
See!! It's still showing up above!
Doesn't matter either way. Unlike the idiot, I've actually got a job.
Due to sympathy.
What do you call it when mummy and daddy buy you a "job" binky?
"Charity!!"

Before the solar flare shut down the bank's defenses, how were two of
the Doctor's accomplices able to teleport out of the bank?
Guess..
You 2 would not comply for The Bleeding Obvious.
Please apply to be Borin Johnson's spin doctor; you have the qualities.
Who is "Borin Johnson"?
