I overheard one checkout operator ask another one "How many weeks is it
to christmas?" I couldn't resist turning round and saying "Don't start
that game already!"

The ones aldi sells here are fine.

Mince pies have always been quite variable, some better than others.

Nope, with all the delays due to the lack of HGV
drivers, you need to send them now so you can
be sure that they will arrive before xmas, stupid.

I would say they are expecting a lock down again, so get your Christmas
shopping done today?
Lets hope they are wrong. At the moment the nhs are more worried about all
the winter illnesses that folk never got last year, to return with vengeance
this year, and cause perfect storm with the underlying increases in Covid,
though not as bad as last time of course.

I had mine yesterday at my local pharmacy. All over 50's are eligible.

Which strain of flu is it supposed to protect you from though ?.
There hasn't been any flu down under so you might have been given
a placebo :-)

That is unlikely to be useful even if there had been given
how few have moved between the northern and southern
hemispheres this year.

Much more likely to be last year's commonly seen strains again.

That date has been moving forwards for a long while. They will be
available on mid-summer's day before too much longer.

I rely on the conversion of garden centres into Dracula's den/Santa's
secret grotto for my supplies of lawn weed and feed and other stuff they
want rid of to make room for it. I missed the boat last year.

You can find some Easter eggs and hot cross buns on sale year round now.

Back when I was the local postmaster, my PO also sold stationary
including cards etc. My first year, I was shocked to be asked for
Christmas cards in September, but soon discovered why. A lot of people
like to buy and post their cards early, to send abroad by surface mail.
