More to the point, can I actually post again? I'd love to think I've got
time... and a working news server.

Okay, looks like it works this far.

And this place is a ghost town, I could run through the streets naked and
screaming and no one would care. Or even notice.

In this particular newsgroup, that was really true even at the height
of its popularity (as several regulars demonstrated).

You need to science the shit out of that hypothesis.

D&D related: what sort of combat bonus do screaming naked Celtic
warriors get when running bare-assed into combat?

Does +1 to their attack roles, +2 to armor class sound right?

Such tactics did freak out the smaller Roman soldiers.

So, what, -3 to enemy morale?

(Does 5E even use Morale? It was pretty much abandoned in 3E/4E but I
still used it; else too many combats were battles-to-the-death. Having
monsters flee or surrender when overmatched encouraged players to do
the same, which often led to interesting role-playing situations
(talking you way out of capture, getting captured and escaping,
convincing the bad guys to switch sides, switching sides yourself).
But if monsters fight expecting no quarter, why should the players
expect otherwise? Morale was great and it was terrible how D&D
eviscerated it in the official rules after 2E)

5E Has it as an option in the DMG, It's pretty crap compared to a paired
down 1e, but it's at least there.

3e & 4e kind of had it in 'intimidate check'
