You guys got me thinking about my use of PC-Write by Quicksoft. On two of
the DOS machines in the lab I have both v2.71 and v3.02. I have often
wondered if there were newer versions, and of course if there was a Windows
version. Then I started looking for my original disks and my manuals. I
found a 1-disk set for version 2.6 and the 3-disk set for version 3.0, and
I know I have the manual around here, too, cause I support shareware. And
I especially support PC-Write. A wonderful editor... IMHO... of course.
Then I wondered if any of the old DOS libraries were still available via
the Internet. I went to google and searched for "dos shareware library"
and sure enough I ran into http://www.filelibrary.com/. That's great! I
searched there and found good old PC-Write...
PC-Write 4.10 great WP by Quicksoft 1/5 Docs,support,thesaurus $69,

speller, mail merge, windows, columns, layout, graphics, index, endnotes,

I noted that there are 6 .zip files in the archive and are named
pcw41a.zip, pcw41b.zip, pcw41c.zip, pcw41d.zip, pcw41e.zip and
pcwpsfix.zip. The direct link to the page were you'll find PC-Write is
http://www.filelibrary.com/Contents/DOS/22/11.html.
While there I noted other great editors, like...
Program Editor v0.99 - Freeware text editor manages copy and paste, undo,
file selection, and large files better than DOS edit.com.
PEDIT 3.30 - short for Program Editor, is similar to the DOS EDIT program,
but more powerful, and with many additional features for programmers. It
includes pop-up tables, copy and past to other Windows applications, long
filenames, 28/43/50 lines mode, word wrap, spell checker, thesaurus, and
much more. Freeware. (C) 1995-1998 by Paul Brand.
Well... I guess there is a Santa Claus after all. -Rick-
