Many happy returns, Rosie. The birthdays are thick this month! It's
costing me a fortune in virtual pints of Shires.

Birthday News for today, 2 August: Rosie Mitchell and StJohn Weyers.
Many thanks for the birthday wishes – a very serene little bird tipped
me off that I might find some here.

I am twenty-one of course. I'm so good at being twenty-one that I'm
being 21 for the third time!

(I know StJohn Weyers comes up every year at this time but I don't
remember him. Isn't he a baddie from Jane Eyre?)

I think that was StJohn Rivers. Our StJohn posted here for a while, a
few years ago. I can't remember how long he was here though or when he
was last seen.

He was a music teacher who wandered in from uk.education.staffroom (along
with some others) - Martin Clark and I may have encouraged him. I just
Googled him to see what he's up to now, only to find he died in 2012, aged
55. Nice obituary here

Aw! Have a big {{{HUG}}}!

I've been in the horse piddle (Southern General, aka Queen Lizzie's)
since Saturday after asthma problems that should have been attended to
weeks ago. I find that NHS Scotland is more inclined to keep you in for
observation than NHS England and generally seems a lot less anxious to
get rid of you. Also SGUH is all single rooms. Not exactly the Ritz but
probably the most positive hospital experience since the Clinique
Lambert in Brussels 18 (yes EIGHTEEN!) years ago net month. The food was
much better in Brussels but then I paid a lot of money for it.

Now feeling better than I have for months. I really ought to pay
attention to the bollocking I get every time this happens.

Sad that he went so young. IIRC he had a daughter named Hermione, born
while he was an active Umrat.
