It may be too late to do anything about this newsgroup, but surely those of us remaining should try to do something.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

Whatever happened to the plans for Usenet 2.0?

Do something about what? I don't have a problem with this group. Not many
posts, mind but that's because Usenet is now the Ceefax of networking.

And most of the rest decamped to Facebook, no doubt preferring the real-
time immediacy of that medium over content threading. Unfortunately, that
only works if everyone is in the same part of the world.

I propose MYSELF as moderator, with sweeping powers to cull out foggy
old farts, communists, separatists, shills, greenies, tree-huggers, EU
apologists, *nglish sympathizers, global warmists, and sundry
undesirable other sorts!

I would probably fit his description of one of those he would cull but I would back Peter Jason as Moderator (not the Church of Scotland one) of this group.

Perhaps someone knows what is involved in converting an unmoderated group into a moderated one? There used to be quite a few tech savvy people around.

Why would we do that?

Killfiles are OK for ignoring awkward customers if you want;
making the group moderated could put off inquisitive souls
we might welcome ...

You have to create a new one that must have a 'moderated' tag in
the group's title. It would run side by side with the original.
