Damn shame for Palmer. Felt sorry for him.
His qualifying performance has steadily improved throughout
the season. He just missed out on Q1. Then he doesn't even
complete the formation lap due to hydraulic failure.

I hope he gets a drive next year and a little more luck.

Anyone heard if he has a drive? Was there a mention of
Kubica in connection with PAL's seat, or am I thinking of
another driver?

Kubica has had a couple of tests now, and is rumoured to be testing
after Hungary with at least one scenario seeing him back in F1 in
Palmer's seat this year.

I think he has a lot to prove but he still has half the season to do it
in unless he get an early boot. If reliablity can be seen to be to
blame for his lack lustre performances so far then it only takes 3 or 4
solid performances in the next 5 or 6 races to reverse the trend.
