Piggy will have an even more deadly bill to get over when she gets it from
the vet's office.

But the cat murderer has said he's paying.

If a vet is called out to a traffic accident and has to put the victim
to sleep it seems tactless to charge for that. I suppose if they put
any ashes in an urm the urn would have to be paid for.

B says when the vet was called out to put Laura to sleep they had to
pay and also extra for cremation and urn. But somehow a traffic
accident and the shock seems different.

B says when the vet was called out to put Laura to sleep they had to
pay and also extra for cremation and urn. But somehow a traffic
accident and the shock seems different.

Bill was taken to the vet after the accident and x-rayed after which when
Peggy realised the extent of his injuries she agreed it was best to put him
to sleep - at the vet's, not "at a traffic accident". He was then buried in
the garden under his favourite tree. So no cremation and no urn.

To complete the story, Robert Snell dug the hole and Lynda went with Peggy
to the vet.

But I did. I didn't think the vet did the deed at the scene of
accident. I didn't know if it was at home or the surgery. it was just
that an accident is not normal wear and tear and is somehow more
upsetting than an elderly animal who is put to sleep near the end. I
did say our friends paid when Laura was put to sleep at home.

We heard Anisha reporting on the results of the x-rays and other tests
which described the extent of the internal injury. This would not have
been done at the scene.

I loved Piggy's annoyance and unsympathetic response to Christine's
blubbering. Not a member of our touchy feely society is Piggy.

Yes, the shock and, potentially, the level of upset is likely to be
greater. I don't see that that means the vet is under any obligation
not to charge though. They may well send a bill, after the event,
rather than insisting that you pay at the time.

A more difficult situation for vets is when an injured animal is brought
in by a third party. The good samaritan may well not feel willing or
able to take responsibility for the animal's vet's bills - or for any
difficult decision which need to be made on its behalf. I think most
vets' practices are likely to have policies in place for how to handle
this situation.

animal to sleep the ESPCA might reimburse them.
