Wikipedia is listing--if not reporting per se--the death at 86 yesterday of
Abdul-Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, 86, one of the gazillion sons by one of the Saudi state founder Ibn Saud's who-knows-how-many-wives, and thus a prince.

He did have the distinction of being the first of the oodles of Saudi princes to study in the West, having attended UC Berkeley.

Robert Lacey lists him as the 21st of 43 sons.He was a younger full
brother of King Fahd and Crown Prince Sultan,and older full brother of
Crown Prince Nayef and King Salman.

Sons of Kings of Saudi Arabia are Princes and Royal Highnesses,
as are their sons...THEIR sons are Princes and Highnesses,
and I think THEIR sons in turn are "princes" without highness.

You just can't "make up" a monarchy and be called "royal" no more than you can set up a storefront church and call yourself a "bishop." It has to be rooted in something real.
