Apparently, Florida and Georgia are irresponsible states.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - At least 13 percent of stolen or lost guns across
the United States came from Florida and Georgia over the last two years.

That 13 percent equals 69,230 guns reported stolen or lost in 2016 and
2017, according to the National Crime Information Center..... more.

Yah, the liberal left made a mess by going soft on criminals. Maybe we should just execute the fuckers.

I don't trust the accuracy of the article. Could be a typo, could be
they are just stupid, but this is a glaring error. Makes me wonder
about the 95 a day.

A high-risk and potentially even higher reward.

“They steal 50 guns for instance and get $300 per gun, they are looking
at $1,500,” Detitto said.

No, if our nation didn't allow the manufacture or unbridled
distribution of these weapons, then they would not be available to be
stolen.

It is rather humorous, all these weapons in the possession of
gunstrokers and the criminals take them right out of your hands.

The rest of us will solve the problem for the gunstrokers, it is just a
matter of time.

What I don't understand is the lack of security by both gun shop owners
and home owners. That is a lot of stolen guns a year. Never would have
guessed even half that.

The ~69k weapons mentioned is a two year total for only the states of
Florida and Georgia, which represents approximately 13% of the national
total.

Doing the math, the national "yearly" total of stolen and lost firearms
is approximately 265,400 .

The numbers from the US Bureau of Justice Statistics is actually
higher. From 2005 - 2010, 1.4 million firearms stolen for an average
of ~280k per year.

Maybe we need to pass a law against stealing.
Saying if we didn't have guns they wouldn't get stolen is like saying

Fretwell, another absurd false equivalency. There is nothing about a

The article spelled it out fairly well, increase security.
Unfortunately they still get into bank vaults so I am not sure how
much security it will take. I suspect a lot of these "gun stores" are
pawn shops and other places with minimal security.
I also wonder how many of the 270k are actually stolen from homes. The
media does have a way of commingled numbers from many sources. I am
also curious about how accurate the number is. ATF says 27 million
were sold in 2016 and this says 1% of that number were stolen.
Considering a dealer's margin these days, how are they making a
living?

In 2017, only a miniscule percentage of the stolen weapons were from
FFL licensees. ~12k, roughly 4%.

So, again, just how would you prevent the balance of the weapons from
being stolen from their owners and ending up in the hands of criminals?

Remember, your solution must prevent; "just saying increased security"

Then you post the ATF link that says it is more like 1600.

ROFL, in other words, you have absolutely no solution to preventing the
theft of 270,000 firearms, across the USA, every year, so you just go
off on a rant. So many "responsible" gunstrokers who legally buy
weapons are incapable of keeping them secure, which basically renders
inert all the background check and police chief bullshit.

Don't worry, it will not be long before these weapons will no longer be
legal to be made, distributed or sold for civilian consumption nor will
the ammunition.

It is just a matter of time.

So, again, just how would you prevent the balance of the weapons
from being stolen from their owners and ending up in the hands of
criminals?
Remember, your solution must prevent; "just saying increased
security" means nothing unless you can enforce it.
So again you post an article with a bullshit headline.
Fretwell, you have a serious reading comprehension problem.
Post by g***@aol.com
"firstcoastnews.com | Gun Store Thefts: High risk and even higher
reward
http://tinyurl.com/y6w6s3db
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - At least 13 percent of stolen or lost guns across
the United States came from Florida and Georgia over the last two
years."
That 13 percent equals 69,230 guns reported stolen or lost in 2016 and
2017, according to the National Crime Information Center..... more."
You post a headline and a snippet that says over 69,000 guns were
stolen from Florida and Georgia dealers.
Reading comprehension Fretwell or, do you suffer from dyslexia?
Post by g***@aol.com
Then you post the ATF link that says it is more like 1600.
No wonder we can't take you seriously.
Considering you cannot read, you must have a difficult time with
anything that doesn't agree with your propaganda.
You open with a headline about "gun store thefts" and then post a
statistic that could only be all the guns lost or stolen in the US.
That is deceptive.
Are you one of the Russian trolls?

Fretwell, you come across as being butt hurt. Apparently, I have
identified and called you out on so much of your bullshit, you feel the
need for revenge.

Too bad you can't get a grasp on anything substantive.

"The actual headline of the article (from the publication) is deceptive
because the article contained additional information and because you
did the math and extrapolated other information from the data
presented."

Fretwell, you are a fool.

You still haven't presented any kind of solution to the theft of more
than 270,000 firearms per year. Yes, I noticed. Typical gunstroker
diversion.

It is deceptive, bait and switch tactics, to have the title of the post
be about gun stores, but then only cite statistics that are for all guns
that are stolen, not just ones from stores. And then it turns out
that the gun store thefts only represent a very small percentage,
(4%?) of the total. I call em as I see em, and you've been caught
doing a bit of shystering there, SwallowBeak. If Trump, for example,
did that, used some misleading BS, why OMG, you'd be howling about it.

I've read the article and the entire thread. There was absolutely
nothing deceptive posted by Dove Tail. It seems that a couple of
people have their noses out of joint and are just lashing out.

The subject of the post is identical to the headline of the article as
published by the Florida news station. Some of the information in the
article jives with the headline.

Whiners should grow up and work the topic instead of pissing in the
wind.

BS. The title of his post is about gun stores and the only numbers
he posts are about total gun thefts. Gun stores are just a few percent
of the total gun thefts. It's a classic bait and switch.

Just because the headline came from a newspaper doesn't mean that
it's accurate, not misleading, not biased, etc. The media is chock
full of silly libs that don't know the difference between a semi-auto
and full auto weapon or much else. But most of them know how to
write attention grabbing headlines, that sometimes mislead.

Since that 270k number us a wild guess of all guns stolen from
everywhere and your original rant was about gun store thefts (or
reported thefts) that ATF puts far below that. I am not sure what you
want an answer to. You are just ranting.
When your hyperbolic number includes mostly domestic and car
burglaries maybe the death penalty for burglars?

I know the only answer that will shut you the fuck up is banning guns
altogether but that is not happening. In that regard you are the
foolish one.

Exactly how would you prevent these 270,000 firearms, per year, from
being stolen and ending up in the hands of criminals in the USA? Be
specific?
It's called a guillotine.  Been around forever and very effective, recidivism rate is very near zero.  We just need to start using it again.

Maybe we need to pass a law against stealing.
Saying if we didn't have guns they wouldn't get stolen is like saying
if women didn't have vaginas they wouldn't get raped.
... look up how many government guns, equipment are stolen, including
explosives. Airline employees here were caught stealing LEO guns from
passenger luggage.

Stealing guns from a gun store is like robbing a bank -- that's where
the money is.
