These effects of our use of fossil fuel use have been understood in the
scientific community for well over 50 years: the nuclear power industry
was not entirely predicated on requirements of atomic weapons, nor were
solar-electrics solely for spysats.
Three decades ago this was already "old news".
What we need is a "SHIT TAX". Put a return to manufacturer deposit on all goods*.
On disposable items, the deposit is not returned to the consumer but instead pays
to process the "shit" leftover, such as CO2 remediation and waste garbage &&
sewage facilities.
*the original manufacturer has ultimate responsibility for the disposal of their
product, and possibly unique knowledge to do so in a safe manner.
