Anyone know if the Morses Line (VT) US/Canada border crossing is still open? I see info online about its potential closure but nothing definitive.

I'm planning a trip to Canada this week by car and would like to cross back into the US at Morses Line...I'm trying to get around potential long waits at the Highgate crossing but also just out of curiosity with a low traffic crossing.

Hmm, good question. Is there a website that lists all crossings and
their hours? The US and Canada border agency sites I've found only
include major crossings.

It looks like it was supposed to be closed in 2012. I think the
situation is rather silly. For a crossing that sees 5 cars per day,
why are the only options taking part of a historic farm to build a
4500 square foot inspection building, or closing the crossing? Why
not renovate the existing building? Big buildings don't create secure
borders -- people do.

Ok, I found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canada%E2%80%93United_States_border_crossings
. No guarantees that it's up to date, of course.

The NYT reports a border dispute that in the past has been violent.

Found this on the CPB.gov site (see link below). Looks like it is still open. Its hours are listed under the Highgate Springs crossing. I haven't ever crossed here but I may try it in the future to avoid the Highgate line-up. If anyone has please post your experience.

It a great place to cross, no waits unless there is a Canadian holiday and then they seem to enjoy slowing everyone down. Still less time than Highate Spring no matter what, just wish the USA Implemented the same process as Canada. This port of entry into the USA closes between midnight at 8 am, however the Canadian side only has people there from8 am to 4 pm, you can still cross with the proper documentation. You drive into the border crossing show your documentation via a camera, answer a few questions that someone asks and they let you through. Guess the
Canadians government understand technology better than the USA. 😟
