Bihar tantriks offer youth's head to deity for magical powers

Tantriks beheaded a youth and offered his head to a local deity to
gain supernatural powers at a village in Bihar, reports said on
Tuesday.

The tantriks cut off the head of 25-year-old Binay Kumar of Barbigha
village in Sheikhpura district on Monday night and offered it to
Dakbaba, the local deity.

The incident comes close on the heels of Union Minister of State for
Human Resources Sanjay Paswan encouraging witchcraft practitioners by
calling them traditional healers in Bihar.

The youth, who ran a sweets shop in the village, was abducted
recently. His headless body was later found in a field, and his head
discovered later in a temple.

The incident has created panic and fear among villagers. But some
believe the head being found in the temple was a smokescreen and the
youth had actually been murdered.

His head was offered to the village god to mislead people about the
motive behind the murder, some villagers said.

religious texts.
2. The difference is those people who resort to such nefarious acts

Actually, most of the tantric killings in Bihar, though this one does not
have the names of people involved, involve northwestern Hindus like Bajwa!
Particularly in Delhi and the surrounding region. Half the tantrics going
around in Bihar are actually Punjabi!

Priest beheads dalit to appease goddess


Bhopal March 26. A priest's quest for hidden treasure landed him in police
net as he was arrested for allegedly beheading a dalit `tantric' in a temple
of goddess Durga, at Parasari village in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh,
police said today.

Chandrabhan Singh Lodhi, a priest, hailing from Uttar Pradesh had allegedly
beheaded 55-year-old Alam Ahirwar on March 22 to appease the goddess on the
belief that the human sacrifice would lead him to some hidden treasure.
Ahirwar, also in search of hidden wealth, was a regular visitor to the
temple and the priest reportedly used to perform sorcery on him, police
said.

Police said that during interrogation, Lodhi had said that on Saturday last
both he and Ahirwar had started pooja to charm goddess Durga at the temple
but when the latter bowed before the deity, the priest beheaded him with an
axe. Later the priest threw the body on the railway tracks, police said.

A case has been registered against the culprit under section 302 of IPC. --

article seems to say he's a UPwala). Is there any way that you can tell
whether the priest is a Brahmin?

I've never seen a temple with only a priest and one visitor; temples are
usually crowded. What kind of temple is this (do you think) that the
priest has sufficient privacy to kill a devotee and carry his body away
without being observed by anyone?

Like Babri there are many temples without the Gods being attended
except by some suicidal beings in the North. Some years back a Patel
youth from Saurashtra set up a crude guillotine in one such temple and
gave a 'kamalpujaa' to shivaji leaving behind a young wife and a
child. Shivji didnot intervine and did not favour the fellow with
boons like he did to Demon Ravana. See, shivaji too has soft corner
for evil people.

Terms such as Lodhi describe the original place from where the person
migrated. This is why Awadhiya Kurmis are termed Awadhiyas. In some places
people use the caste as the last name, very common in Yadav clans across
India. In other places the place of origin becomes either identified with
caste or last name. Most Gurjaras for example, still have the last name
Gurjara in MP where such a convention of using the caste as the surname is
common. From that one can tell that they originated in Gujranwala Pakistan.
Further, after determination of last names, one can guess at the caste even
by first name. For example, Chandrabhan is a name more popular in the
western region, particularly amongst Rajputs.

In Bihar for example, if you see very modern first names like Pintu, Sonny,
Bintu coupled with Singh, they are likely Bhumihar names. Kurmi and Yadav
names are more 'old-fashioned' particularly rural names such as Ram Jatan
Singh, Ramapravesa, Dwarika, Mithila Sharan, Sarjug, with younger housenames
like laddoo, bhalu, kalu etc. It would be a rare occurrence for a Kurmi or
Yadav woman to be named 'Lovely Singh' etc., as the people in those
societies wouldn't stop laughing at it! Bhumihars and Rajputs on the other
hand have more 'akru' names like Bharmeshwar, Parameshwar, Vijendra,
Jitendra, Vikram, Virendra etc.
