A copy of the Foundation trilogy is headed out towards Mars on Elon Musk's Tesla roadster. Cue Hari Seldon (and Kathy Selden):

"All I Do Is Scheme For You"
ttto "All I Do Is Dream Of You" (Nacio Herb Brown/Arthur Freed)
New lyrics Jeff Urs 2008

All I do is scheme for you;
Your children, too.
Empire gone, you'll still go on,
The centuries through.
But that'll be an age of dearth,
Thirty thousand winters worth:

Empire, downfall, dark age, rebirth.

But that's just wrong; it's far too long
Trapped in that blight.
Psychohistory solves the mystery,
Shortens the night.
Foundation One, Foundation Two,
Now a thousand years'll do.

All I do is scheme for you,
My whole life through!

It's surprising what news tidbits I find out here.

Also, thanks for the song.

I first heard it mentioned in the Falcon Heavy launch coverage. I also saw it,
among other places, in articles on Ars Technica and Slashdot, such as

"This Arch disc is 'written by a femtosecond laser on quartz silica
glass' and its data is 'encoded digitally as 20nm gratings, formed by
plasma disruptions from the laser pulses.'"

"Theoretical capacity is 360TB per disk, and the Archs are stable for
14B+ years."

My name for such things is "dataliths." I once used the term on a panel
with Vernor Vinge, and he said he liked it.
