Sky Sports F1 chanel re-brand planned

The story is a bit confusing depending on the source, but Sky Sports as a whole is being re-branded soon, everybody agrees it will get cheaper whatever.

Where sources differ is whether Sky Sports F1 will stay as it is (merely getting cheaper) or will be re-branded to show other general sports too and get cheaper that way.

One idea is that by having Sky Sports F1, Sky Sports Football, and Sky Sports Cricket etc they can more accurately judge viewing figures for a sport.

Two sources are here, one hardcopy source has said SSF1 will go as a channel (with F1 coverage moving to a general Sky Sports channel) but I can't find that version online;

(One idea floating around is that SSF1 basically only has 3 days of stuff every fortnight in the summer so doesn't justify a whole channel to itself 24/7 throughout the year - though I believe it becomes Sky Sports Darts sometimes)

Well, I'm a Sky subscriber, and I have to purchase the ENTIRE Sky Sports
package - all the football, hockey, Southern Bangladesh National Tiddlywinks
Championships, EVERYTHING, *JUST* to watch the f**king F1 every couple
of weeks.

I junked it last month. Screw it. I'd rather go without.

Unless Sky break up the channels into packages (why can't we have a Football
package, Motorsport package, etc.?) then I'm not interested.

I was HUGELY impressed with Channel 4's advert-free coverage of Baku.
Absolutely brilliant. And who can't be in love with Lee McKenzie?

I'm fortunate in that that is exactly what I have (SkyF1 was included as an
inducement to go over to HD and I have never changed my package). I am
certainly not prepared to buy the whole Sky Sports package just to get F1
so I guess I would simply give up watching F1. After all I well remember
the days when (B&W) TV coverage was extremely limited and we relied on the
race reports in Autosport or Motoring News.
I *would* however be prepared to pay a fee to watch on a race by race basis
(depending on the fee of course).

I haven't seen the C4 coverage, but most people here seem to speak highly
of it. I have to say I have no quarrels with Sky's actual coverage.

Agreed but I wouldn't mind a monthly fee (depends what it is obviously) as
I/we still pay £10 /month for the HD package. I would dump that in a heart
beat if they killed the f1 deal.

But I have seen it said that the minimum package is £18/ month which I'm
not prepared to pay.

Same here. I still watch in on C4 whenever possible, though, just to
spite them.

SSF1 predict (explain) the strategies as a race unfolds far better than C4 do - so I never listen to the C4 commentary now.

I put the C4 (or RTL) world feed picture on a big TV with the Mix screen from SSF1 and that commentary on a small TV - for duo vision F1.

I could just put the SSF1 multi-screen up but each screen would be too small - might be ok if you have a giant screen TV though.

Normally the RTL pic "leads" the SSF1 commentary by about 4 seconds, but with C4 it is more or less in sync.
